Early Inititation of Breastfeeding and Vitamin A Supplementation with

Nutritional Status of Children Aged 6-59 Months

Toddler period, especially the first two years of life is considered as golden age for children
because of their rapid growth and development. Therefore, the occurrence of nutritional disorders
in the period can be permanent and irreversible. This study tried to assess correlation between
early initiation of breastfeeding and vitamin A with nutritional status. The total of samples
analyzed in this study was 1,592 toddlers aged 6-59 months that were drawn from 2015 Indonesia
Nutritional Status Monitoring Survey in Bengkulu. Data including age, sex, early initiation of
breastfeeding, birth length, birth weight, vitamin A supplementation were collected by using
questionnaire. Weight and height of children were obtained through anthropometric
measurements. More than half of the toddlers (54.6%) did not get early initiation of
breastfeeding. Based on multivariate analysis results, most dominant variables related to
weight/age, height/age and weight/height indicators were early initiation of breastfeeding and
Vitamin A supplementation. Toddlers who did not get early initiation of breastfeeding are at risk
of 1.555 times stunting compared to toddlers who got early initiation of breastfeeding. The most
dominant variable related to height/age isvitamin A supplementation. Children who do not get
vitamin A supplementation are at risk of stunting 2.402 times compared to children who get
vitamin A supplementation.

Masa balita, khususnya dua tahun pertama kehidupan merupakan usia emas bagi anak karena
pertumbuhan dan perkembangannya yang cepat. Oleh karena itu, terjadinya gangguan nutrisi
pada masa itu bisa bersifat permanen dan tidak dapat diubah. Penelitian ini mengkaji hubungan
antara inisiasi dini pemberian air susu ibu dan vitamin A dengan status gizi. Total sampel yang
dianalisis dalam penelitian ini adalah 1.592 anak di bawah lima tahun (balita) berusia 6-59 bulan
yang diambil dari Pemantauan Status Gizi Indonesia 2015 di Bengkulu. Data termasuk usia, jenis
kelamin, inisiasi menyusui dini, panjang kelahiran,berat lahir, suplementasi vitamin A
dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan kuesioner. Berat dan tinggi anak diperoleh melalui
pengukuran antropometri. Lebih dari setengah balita (54,6%) tidak mendapat inisiasi menyusui
dini. Berdasarkan hasil analisis multivariat, variabel yang paling dominan terkait dengan
indikator weight/age, height/age dan weight/height adalah inisiasi menyusui dini dan suplemen
vitamin A. Balita yang tidak mendapat inisiasi menyusui dini berisiko 1,555 kali me-ngalami
stunting dibanding balita yang mendapat inisiasi menyusui dini. Variabel yang paling dominan
terkait dengan height/age adalah suplementasi vitamin A. Anak yang tidak mendapatkan
suplemen vitamin A berisiko mengalami stunting 2,402 kali dibandingkan anak yang mendapat
suplemen vitamin A.

Honey is also rich in antioxidants which can improve the performance of the digestive system of
the body so that the body becomes more healthy and fit. Not only that, the content
of Honey has a content of nutraceuticals can fight free radicals in the body.
3. Improve Stamina
According to research results, the honey can improve performance (ergogenic), which
can enhance the performance of athletes. Honey may help the body control blood sugar and also
help the healing of muscle and stamina recovery after strenuous activity.
4. Sources of vitamins and minerals
Honey is also known to be rich in vitamin and mineral content. The levels of vitamins
and the minerl depending on the nectar that is smoked by the honey bees.
5. Keep out bacteria and fungi
Honey also contains antiseptic substance that acts to inhibit the growth of bacteria, it is able
to keep the body to avoid infection. If seserorang were scratch or burns, then the honey is
often made into medicine first aid to apply so as to avoid the occurrence of infections.
6. Lose weight
In contrast to the high calorie and sugar lukosa, honey contains vitamins and minerals that
the body needs. Many are convinced that the honey could be used as a natural remedy for weight
loss. Usually dicampung honey with lemon juice drink in the morning is believed to be able
to eliminate cellulite.

Like just on point 6, anti bacterial content in honey can fight mikrobakteri the cause
of inflammation, even honey can kill the bakter–bacteria that cause infection in the throat.

Manfaat dan khasiat madu telah lama diketahui oleh manusia. Kualitas-kualitas gizi dan obat dari
madu telah didokumentasikan dalam Veda, Yunani, Romawi, Kristen, teks-teks Islam dan
lainnya. Dokter dari zaman kuno, seperti Aristoteles (384-322 SM), Aristoxenus (320 SM)
Hippocrates, Porphyry, Cornelius Celsus (awal abad pertama Masehi) dan Dioscorides, dan
dokter Arab telah dirujuk ke kualitas penyembuhan madu. Meskipun argumen ilmiah telah dibuat
untuk penggunaan madu di zaman modern, penggunaannya masih dianggap sebagai bagian dari

Madu juga kaya akan zat antioksidan yang dapat meningkatkan kinerja sistem pencernaan tubuh
sehingga tubuh menjadi lebih sehat dan bugar. Tidak hanya itu, kandungan Madu mempunyai
kandungan nutraceuticals dapat melawan radikal bebas yang masuk dalam tubuh.
3. Meningkatkan Stamina
Menurut hasil penelitian, madu dapat meningkatkan performa (ergogenic),yang dapat
meningkatkan performa atlet. Madu dapat membantu tubuh mengontrol gula darah dan juga
membantu penyembuhan otot serta pemulihan stamina setelah aktifitas berat.
4. Sumber vitamin dan mineral
Madu juga diketahui kaya akan kandungan vitamin dan mineral. Kadar vitamin dan minerl
tersebut tergantung pada nektar yang dihisap oleh lebah madu tersebut.
5. Menghalau bakteri dan jamur
Madu juga mengandung zat antiseptik yang berfungsi untuk menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri,
hal tersebut mampu menjaga tubuh agar terhindar dari infeksi. Jika seserorang mengalami luka
gores ataupun luka bakar, maka madu sering dijadikan obat pertolongan pertama untuk di oleskan
sehingga menghindari terjadinya infeksi.
6. Menurunkan berat badan
Berbeda dengan gula yang tinggi kalori dan lukosa, madu mengandung vitamin dan mineral yag
dibutuhkan tubuh. Banyak yang meyakini bahwa madu bisa dijadikan obat alami untuk
menurunkan berat badan. Biasanya madu dicampung dengan jus lemon diminum pada pagi hari
diyakini bisa menghilangkan selulit.
7. Mengobati batuk dan radang tenggorokan
Seperti hanya pada point 6, kandungan anti bakteri pada madu bisa melawan mikrobakteri
penyebab radang, bahkan madu dapat membunuh bakter-bakteri yang menyebabkan infeksi pada
tenggorokan.
