- This essay is to defend the Filipinos against the
accusation of Mr. Sanciano that the Filipinos are
indolent.
- Based in the observation of Mr. Sanciano to a
Filipino farmer.
- It represents Rizal’s defense of Filipino to
Spaniards.
- Indolence means laziness (Tamad)
- Tamad ba ang mga Pilipino? (That was the
question that Rizal answered in the essay.
- The essay of Rizal was sort of defense of the
allegation of Spaniards (na tamad ang mga
Pilipino).
- Rizal has a character of ethnocentric which
means he didn’t want other people to looking
down his race. That’s why, all his works are
pertaining to defend and to lift up all the
Filipino people.
