SECTION 3 – HARZARD IDENTIFICATION

Health risks Intense itching
Limit exposure The ACGIH Ceiling STEL standard is 1.5
mg/m3(0.2 ppm) for Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide.
Exposure route

Skin contact Intense itching of the skin, causing red, burning

spots and blisters.

Eye contact Causes serious eye damage and can cause

blindness

Dietary route Causes consequences on the entire body:

changes in structure or function of the throat,
causing dizziness, nausea, vomiting and other
intestinal and digestive effects.

Respiratory Mild poisoning through inhalation.

Exceed mucous membranes and causes dizziness. No
more serious symptoms have been recorded by
medical science following exposure.

SECTION 4 - FIRST AID MEASURES

Skin:
Immediately remove contaminated clothing. Wash the
infected area completely with soap and plenty of clean water
for at least 15 minutes. If itching or worsening symptoms
continue to develop, seek medical help.

Immediately remove contact lenses (if worn). Rinse your eyes

Eye
with clean water for at least 15 minutes. Make sure you rinse
your eyes well by using your fingers to separate the eyelids. If
itching or more serious symptoms appear, seek medical help

Gastrointestinal Contact your doctor, hospital or Poison Control Center

immediately. Do not attempt to induce vomiting in an exposed

person.

Respiratory Seek exposure to fresh air. If coughing, breathing becomes

difficult, itching or other symptoms develop, seek medical
helpimmediately, even if these symptoms appear. several
hours after exposure.

SECTION 5 - FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Flash point: (COC) > 200ºF

Fire limit: Not yet noted or understood
How to use a fire Spray water from a safe distance – preferably using a spray nozzle.
extinguisher In the case of a very small fire, other means such as CO2
cylinders, gas fire extinguishers or dry chemicals can be very
useful. Dry chemicals combined with MEKP formulations can
cause re- ignition. Certain special domestic additives may be
particularly effective in extinguishing fires caused by MEKP
Special firefighting Firefighters should wear special protective clothing. In case of fire
procedures near the warehouse, refrigerate chemical containers with water
spray. If dry chemicals are used to extinguish a fire caused by
MEKP, the area must be thoroughly wetted with cool water to
prevent re-ignition.
Abnormal risk of fire The heat of the decomposition of peroxides increases the heat of
and explosion the fire

SECTION 6 - ACCIDENT REDUCE MEASURES

Steps to be taken in Need to build partitions to prevent chemicals from flowing down
into sewers and rivers and streams. Spilled chemicals should be swept up
Clean up with thinner such as perlite, vermiculite, or sand,
and place in a clean polyethylene bin or bucket. Wet the
barrel or bucket with water before sealing it.

SECTION 7 - HANDLING AND STORAGE

Handling and storage Cover the tank tightly to avoid contaminating the surrounding
area. Rotate inventory according to the oldest inventory first
priority (FIFO) principle. MEKP's performance and stability are
directly related to cargo handling and storage temperature history.
Refrigeration at 80°F (27°C) or lower is recommended for longer
shelf life and stability. Long-term storage at temperatures up to
100°F (38 degrees C) or higher will cause the product to deteriorate,
vaporize, and potentially cause the container to rupture leading to
fire and/or explosion. .

Other notes MEKP should never be added to hot solvents or monomers as

decomposition/violent reaction will occur. When using spray
equipment, never spray raw MEKP intocuring or raw plastic or
air ducts. MEKP should be stored in its original container. DO
NOT STORE WITH FOOD OR DRINKS. DO NOT USE MEKP
CLOSE
FOOD OR DRINKS.
This is a substance that should not be mixed with other
substances other than its intended use. The remainder after use
must be returned at the end of the day to a container capable
of containing peroxides or, preferably, its original container.

SECTION 8 – EXPOSURE CONTROL/PERSONAL PROTECTIVE CARE .

Protect the airway If the concentration of toxic substances in the air reaches an
unsafe level,
you must protect yourself with anti-toxic clothing or a mask

Fan Active electric fan.

Protect eyes Wear protective glasses and wash your eyes after work.

Hand protection. Use rubber gloves

Other ways. You should wash your body and face a lot under running water
when the problem
becomes too big

SECTION 10 – STABILITY AND ACTIVITY

Incompatible (Materials Dimethylaniline, cobalt napthenate and other promoters, promoted

to avoid) resin, resin promoter, dipping agent, strong. Acids, alkalis, metals,
metal salts, sulfur compounds, amines and other hot materials.

Stable Store well in a sealed container, away from sunlight and in a place not
exceeding 27 degrees Celsius

Risk of decomposition This substance has a fire hazard when decomposed.. creating tear gas
causing danger and toxic gases.
