4TH YEAR BSED ENGLISH

"The Mother-Tongue-Based Multilingual Education (MTBMLE) Policy should be Implemented Up

to Grade 6? "
In June 2012, the K to 12 Curriculum was implemented in the Philippines. Basic education is now
thirteen years instead of the usual ten years. In the K to 12 Curriculum, the elementary grades will focus
on the core learning areas namely: languages, mathematics, science and social studies. One of the
highlights of the K to 12 Curriculum is the use of the eight major Philippine languages to teach
Kindergarten to Grade 3 students. The Department of Education adopted the “Mother Tongue-Based
Multilingual Education (MTB-MLE)” after pilot tests showed that students learn better when the
language used at home is also used in the classroom.

In my opinion, I would suggest that we still can use our mother tongue as primary medium
instruction for students to further understand our lesson. We can still use second language to
give an instruction. In our country I recommend that we should use English language as early as
we can, we could have more opportunity if we learn English as early as possible. Early English
learning expands a child's vocabulary, allowing them to learn new concepts and build on their
knowledge. Learning how to speak, pronounce, and write English words from the beginning is
crucial to this process. English language can help us in many ways, English literacy can make us
advance in technology and will help us to hire at easiest way in company.
