Research Methods - Study Questions

1) What are the dependent and independent variables, explain with an example?
2) What is a hypothesis? Explain with an example.
3) What are Population and Sample? Why we are doing “sampling”? Explain the
differentiation among the probability and non-probability sampling in a single sentence.
Write the names of the 4 basic sampling methods and describe one?
4) Write down the names of the 7 research steps and briefly explain them in one sentence?
5) Write down the types of scientific fraud in ethics (at least 6 items)? And explain at least
2 of them.
6) What are the main differences between a “research article” and a “review article”,
explain briefly. If you have just started doing research on any subject, which type of
articles would be more beneficial for you to read? Write and explain the reason.
7) What are basic and applied research types? Explain briefly. And compare these two
types of research in terms of the type of knowledge produced, motivation, key
questions, and purpose.
8) What are the data types? Explain briefly and give at least one example to each. You can
also answer by drawing a diagram.
9) We generally look at 2 important criteria in the journals we choose, both to publish our
own articles and to find "good" articles to read. The first of these is the indexing status
of the journal. What is the second criterion? Please explain briefly. Write down why this
criterion has been questioned in recent years and discuss in your own words.
10) Be ready to design a 2 factor study in stratified design for a given study duration.
