DERRICK ROSE

1
HOW DID HE PLAY
DESPITE HAVING
PAIN/INJURIES?
Before Rose's injury cost him the entire 2012–13
season, his scoring averages were on a clear upward
trend. He averages 18.8 points per game over the
course of his career, but he also has terrible true
shooting percentages (52.3 percent) and effective field
goal percentages (47.7 percent). Efficiency is definitely
not Rose's strong suit; even at his prime, he was never a
reliable outside shooter and almost completely relied
on his exceptional body control and inherent agility to
score baskets.
HOW DO THEY PLAY
FROM THEIR
RECENT INJURIES?
His scoring since the injury has decreased by 4.1
PPG overall. Then, even though he was still the
team's primary scorer, his assists decreased by two
per game, which isn't excellent for a point guard.
His assist percentage also decreased by 6.1%.
Additionally, after the injury, his shooting wasn't
nearly as effective as it once was as shown by
effective field goal %, an adjusted field goal
percentage that accounts for the extra point the 3-
point shot provides.
DID HE STILL COMEBACK AS A
SUPERSTAR CALIBER?
Every camera in the building was focused on Derrick Rose's broken knee
when he returned from his injury. His inability to fully recover from his injuries
was put to blame for every single poor game. ACL injuries can have major
long-term effects, and Rose was never the same player after his injury. Due to
two years of inactivity, his entire body lost strength in addition to his knee. The
whole potential of Rose will never be known. To begin his career, he only had
three whole healthy seasons, and even then, he erred on the side of
inefficiency.
