SENSOR UNIT INSTALLATION (1)

The field of view varies depending on the distance between the sensor and the target.
The key to stable detection is displaying the target as large as possible for the field of view.

We compared the capability to differentiate between a spade

The differentiation was performed by checking the shapes with
the spade set as the master.

Displaying the workpiece as large as possible, with the image still contained
within the field of view, enables more stable detection.

Select from internal triggers (images are captured at a constant interval without using external
input) and external triggers (images are captured according to external signals).

Navigating to Sensor Setup Setting the image capture conditions

(1) Tap [Sensor Setup]. (1) Tap [Trigger Options].

The screen for setting the trigger conditions is displayed.

(2) Tap [Start].
(2) Select the trigger type.

SENSOR SETTINGS [IMAGE CAPTURE CONDITION (2)
—ADJUSTING THE BRIGHTNESS AND FOCUS]
07
This section explains how to adjust the brightness of the built-in lighting and the focus.
With the IV Series (autofocus type), the focus and brightness are adjusted automatically,
so settings can be configured with the press of a button.

Brightness adjustment

(1) Tap [Auto Brightness Adjustment]. (2) Tap [OK].

The display will return to the main screen for the image capture conditions.

Focus adjustment

(1) Tap [Focus Adjustment]. (2) Tap [OK].

The focus position is adjusted automatically.

(3) When you finish configuring the settings, tap [OK].

The display will return to the main screen for the image capture conditions.
If you tap [Cancel], the focus remains the same as it was prior to the adjustment.

(4) Tap [Next] to proceed to [STEP 2 Registering the

Master Image].

This completes the setting of the image capture conditions.

Next, register the image to use as the master.

7
SENSOR SETTINGS
[MASTER IMAGE REGISTRATION]
08
With the IV Series, master images are registered and inspection tools are assigned according to
these images.
In this section, a good product image will be registered as the master image.

Master image registration

(1) Place a good target in the field of view to use as the

judgement reference.

(2) Tap [Register Live Image as Master].

(3) The image of the target is captured.

If you are using external triggers, apply an external trigger.
If you cannot apply an external trigger, tap to temporarily use internal triggers to
capture the image.
Tap to stop capturing the image with internal triggers.

(4) Check the captured image displayed on the monitor,

and then tap [Register].

(5) Tap [OK].

This completes the master image registration.

Next, register the specific inspection tool.

8
SENSOR SETTINGS
[OUTLINE SETTINGS—DETECTION DETERMINATION]
09
Configure the specific settings for orientation detection.

STEP 1 Setting the tools

(1) Tap [Add Tool]. (5) Tap [OK].

The display returns to the main screen
for setting the outline tool.

(6) Tap [Fine Tune Outline].

► ‌If no tools have been set, only the [Add Tool]

button is displayed.

This completes the settings for orientation determination.

Next, set the position adjustment for workpiece misalignment.

9
SENSOR SETTINGS [POSITION ADJUSTMENT
SETTINGS—MISALIGNMENT ADJUSTMENT]

Apply position adjustment to the entire shape.
This makes it possible to track position changes of the
workpiece within the field of view.

Follow the method described in STEP 1 (4) to (6) to

set the window and remove unnecessary outlines.

Check that the position you want to detect

is being detected as an outline.

This completes the setting of the position adjustment.

Finally, set the output method.

10
OUTPUT SETTINGS
[JUDGEMENT OUTPUT SETTINGS]

STARTING OPERATION
[CHECKING THE STABILITY]
12
Now that the settings have been configured, run the program and ensure inspection stability.

STEP 4 Starting operation

(1) Tap [RUN]. (4) Check that an NG product

(5) Check that an NG product (with a part
inserted in the opposite direction) is detected.
(2) Check the operation screen on the monitor.

The product is detected as NG without any problems.

OK products are detected without any problems.
Check the match percentage to ensure stability. (6) Check that an NG product (with a
defective insertion) is detected.

(3) Check that a misaligned product is

detected.

The product is detected as NG without any problems.

(7) Check that an OK product (with a somewhat

shallow part insertion) is detected.
The product is detected without any problems by applying
position adjustment.

This should be an OK product, but the value is below the

threshold, so the product is detected as NG. Adjust the
threshold so that this situation is judged as OK.

Lastly, the way to adjust the threshold in order to improve

the stability will be explained.

12
IMPROVING THE STABILITY
[ADJUSTING THE THRESHOLD]

This section explains how to handle the case in which an OK product is detected as NG.

STEP 5 Adjusting the threshold to accurately detect a product as OK/NG

(5) When you finish configuring the settings,

tap [OK].

This OK product is detected as NG, but the match

percentage is displayed as 68%.
The match percentage indicates the result of a
comparison of the shape with the shape registered as
the master, so the reason for this match percentage is If necessary, set other tools in the same manner.
because the outline match rate is low.

(2) Tap the judgement bar. (6) Tap [No] to return to the sensor setup menu
screen.

(3) Tap [OK].

(7) Check the OK and NG products again on
the operation screen.
If you can detect the target test workpieces
without any problems, the procedure is
complete.

This completes the program adjustments.
