“Maslow's hierarchy of needs”

Maslow’s hierarchy of needs implies that individuals must satisfy their lower-level
needs before they can attend a higher set of needs. Maslow's hierarchy of needs is a
theory of motivation which states that five categories of human needs dictate an
individual’s behavior. Those needs are physiological needs, safety needs, love and
belonging needs, esteem needs, and self-actualization needs.

I would say that this theory of motivation is very important in any of the organization
because it enables us to think creatively and strategically. It empowers us with the
knowledge needed to identify interest, skill sets, strengths and values. Let’s simplify
the concept from the workplace perspective, in terms of psychological needs, we
need to consider the foods and rest as an important aspect for an employee. In
terms of security, the assurance that they are safe from physical and sexual
harassment gives them a feeling of safety while they are working. In terms of senses
of belongingness, the company should assure its employees that they are part of the
family, and there is a good relationship among members of the organization. In terms
of self esteem, recognition and incentives for a job well done are part of company’s
of honoring their employees. In terms of self actualization, the company should give
every employee chances of showcasing their potentials and capabilities to contribute
and train other employees. This is a challenge that all managers need to satisfy.
There should be a healthy environment where they could perform their duties well
and be satisfied. It will surely improve the level of work within the organization.
