This beginning level series provides five comprehensive and interconnected volumes consisting of listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar. In the recent past, with the popularity of the ‘communicative language teaching approach, Korean educators placed heavy emphasis ‘on oral communication and somewhat neglected reading and writing skills. In these volumes, we aim to help learners develop four language skillsin a balanced manner, While we take an integrated approach to the four language skis, the materials are presented in separate language areas in order to shape our materials to our students! specific language needs. Learners lacking in any one of the language skill areas will be able to focus their language study on the areas oftheir need. Within each volume, we made efforts to integrate four language skill. Grammar and vocabulary are presented progressively based on frequency of use and the level of difficulty. The language ‘elements, functions, and tasks are created in reference tothe International Standard of Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language published by the National Institute of the Korean Language. As a frontier of KFL(Korean as a Foreign Language) education Kyung Hee University ‘will continue to improve and adapt our materials in order to maintain our high standard of teaching the Korean language. Finally, would like to give thanks to all the conteibutors who made this book possible.
