This represents an increase of 8.9 percent from the 384 establishments engaged in this section in 2020. (Tables A and 1) By region, Central Luzon registered the highest number of 50 establishments or 12.0 percent of the total establishments for the section in 2021. This was followed by National Capital Region (NCR) and CALABARZON with 43 establishments (10.3%) and 38 establishments (9.1%), respectively. (Figure 1 and Table 3) Figure 1. Out of the total employment, 56,274 workers or 99.9 percent were paid workers, while the remaining were working owners and unpaid workers. (Tables A and 1) In 2021, NCR employed the highest number of 10,488 workers or 18.6 percent of the total for the section. Central Luzon and CALABARZON followed with 6,496 workers (11.5%) and 4,900 workers (8.7%), respectively. (Figure 2 and Table 3) Figure 2. NCR had the highest average of 244 workers per establishment. This was followed by Zamboanga Peninsula with 200 workers per establishment. Page 3 of 6 On the other hand, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) had the least average with 61 workers per establishment. (Tables A, 2, and 4) Employees in NCR earned the highest average annual compensation per paid employee The total compensation paid by the section in 2021 amounted to PhP 50.75 billion, which translates to an average annual compensation of PhP 901.91 thousand per paid employee. This was 6.3 percent higher than the average annual compensation of PhP 848.85 thousand per paid employee in 2020. (Tables A, 1, and 2) At the regional level, employees in NCR received the highest average annual pay of PhP 1.66 million per paid employee. This was followed by CALABARZON and Eastern Visayas with average annual compensation per paid employee of PhP 1.33 million and PhP 1.01 million, respectively. These regions, including Ilocos Region, paid average annual compensation higher than the national average. (Figure 3 and Table 4) Figure 3. Meanwhile, the section incurred a total expense of PhP 1.11 trillion in 2021, which indicates an annual growth of 6.8 percent from the PhP 1.04 trillion total expense in 2020. (Tables A and 1) The top three regions in terms of revenue and expense for the section in 2021 were as follows: 1. NCR contributed the highest share to the total revenue and total expense, which amounted to PhP 410.23 billion (32.0%) and PhP 340.67 billion (30.8%), respectively; 2. CALABARZON with total revenue of PhP 221.25 billion (17.2%) and total expense of PhP 185.38 billion (16.8%); and 3. Central Luzon with total revenue of PhP 181.75 billion (14.2%) and total expense of PhP 161.61 billion (14.6%). (Figure 4 and Table 3) Figure 4. (Final Results) Page 5 of 6 CAR posted the highest revenue per expense ratio In 2021, the revenue per peso expense ratio for the section stood at 1.16, which reflects a decline of 0.9 percent from the recorded revenue per expense ratio of 1.17 in the previous year. This indicates that for every peso spent in 2021, the section generated a corresponding revenue of PhP 1.16. (Tables A and 2) Across regions, CAR recorded the highest revenue per peso expense ratio at 1.48. This was followed by NCR, Ilocos Region, and Cagayan Valley, all with revenue per expense ratio of 1.20. (Table 4) DIVINA GRACIA L.
