Turning Them into Prayer

1/16/24

SCRIPTURE:

Philippians 4:6-7 “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what
you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which
exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in
Christ Jesus.”

OBSERVANCE:

This passage gives such a powerful message on the importance of living a prayer life. Paul brings
God’s promise of His divine and supernatural peace that I can experience when I simply turn my
worries, burdens and all my needs into PRAYER. I can’t control what goes on around me, as hard
as we may try, but I certainly can pray about it. I love what is says ‘in everything’. This means
there’s nothing too small to bring to Him. Believing Paul is saying that I ask for everything I
NEED., not everything I want. When I pray about everything, I am giving God an opportunity to
speak into my life and bring peace to my mind and heart. It’s His reminder that I am never
alone. When I take my worries or pleas before Him, I open myself to His guidance and
protection. He knows better than I do and what’s best for me, and I rely upon His perfect
wisdom to guide and lead me.

Furthermore, Paul instructs to let our requests be made known to God. Doing this means I pray
with a posture of dependence on the Lord for direction and assistance in my life. When I make
my worries and needs known, it implies recognizing God’s authority over me as my creator and
redeemer. But it's important for me to remember that I won't always get the answer I want or
the solution I hope for. However, by prayerfully surrendering all my worries and concerns to
God, I am trusting in His goodness and unchanging character.

APPLICATION:

When I am worried and anxious- PRAY and rely on God. Fear and worry build when I place
the burdens in my life on myself. The burden is not meant for me to carry alone. God rejoices
when I trust Him and rely on His grace, willingness, and ability to help me.
When I am in need- PRAY. Practice putting my mind to finding comfort, joy, and peace in
Christ. Seek guidance and wisdom from God according to what He knows is best. This practice
strengthens my faith and guards my heart and mind against my worries and burdens. It
enables me to be present with God, praying and obeying with the knowledge that God
works for my good.

PRAY:

Father God, thank you for your promises over me. I ask for strength to face whatever comes
my way. Help me to look up to you in prayer about everything. Help me to practice Your
Word, to walk with obedience in step with your Word and your Spirit. You hold my life in
your hands, and I trust in You. In Jesus name, Amen.
