EarthScience 1stquarter PETA-1
EarthScience 1stquarter PETA-1
S.Y. 2023-2024
PERFORMANCE STANDARD: The learners will be able to make campaign materials based on scientific data and evidence, which
the community may use in conserving and protecting the Earth’s natural resources for the present and future generations.
TRANSFER GOAL: The students, on their own and in the long run, will be able to create a campaign material for the conservation
and protection of the Earth’s materials and resources.
ESSENTIAL QUESTION:
How can one’s understanding of the scientific data and evidence be useful in protecting and conserving our Earth’s materials and
resources?
ESSENTIAL UNDERSTANDING:
The students should be able to understand that the Earth’s natural resources must be properly protected and conserved to maintain a
state of balance between and among the different subsystems for the benefit of the present and future generations.
ENGAGING SCENARIO:
The City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology
(DOST) will hold its annual campaign expo for the protection and conservation of earth’s materials and resources.
As earth science students who currently focus on the study of earth’s materials and resources, the office invites you to join the
expo! You are required to create campaign material that may encourage governments, civil society, private sectors and the general
public to protect the earth’s materials and resources including rock and mineral resources, water resources, energy resources and soil
resources.
Among the attendees who will evaluate your campaign material are the CENRO and DOST personnel and environmentalists.
They will look at the content, organization, innovation and uniqueness, and impact of your material.
Note: Your output must be shared on your individual social media accounts to make the general public aware of the present problems
that we face and experience, as well as sustainable solutions and recommendations regarding the Earth’s materials and resources of
your choice.
Guidelines:
This task would require you to create a campaign about the Earth’s materials and resources. Below are the guidelines for this
performance task:
On Submission
- Submissions, including posting of the output on your personal social media accounts, will be until August 26, 2023 (11:59
p.m.). If the output and posting were done after the given due date and time, the maximum score would only be within the
"Developing" margin.
On Groupings:
- The class would be divided into groups of at least 7 students.
- A leader would be set for each group. The leader is responsible for summarizing the peer evaluation ratings of the group.
- No voluntary separation from the group would be allowed. Thus, group transfers will not be allowed.
Important Reminders:
1. The scoring of your performance task will be on an 80-20 distribution. The 80% will come from the group score and the
20% will come from the peer evaluation score.
Example:
Group PETA score = 20
Peer evaluation score =4
Student’s total performance task score = 24
2. Each member of the group is expected to submit (on or before the set deadline) an individual peer evaluation rating to the
assigned group leader. Failure to submit will automatically mean a deduction of 2 points from the student’s group raw score
and a grade of zero (0) in the peer evaluation.
Example:
Group PETA score = 16 (minus 2 points from non-submission
of individual peer evaluation) = 14
Peer evaluation score =0
Student’s total performance task score = 14
