1 OPERATIONAL SAFETY AND USE CONDITION

Before using the equipment, carefully read and thoroughly understand the precautions set
forth in this section.

The safety precautions are classified into WARNING and CAUTION categories.
Supplementary operating instructions are given under IMPORTANT and NOTE categories.
These four categories are defined as follows.

~ WAR N.1 N G
WARNING indicates a potentially hazardoL]s situation which, if not prevented, could result in
death or serious injury.

~ CAU¶ON
CAUTION indicates a potentially haz;ardous situation which; if not
minor or moderate injury. It may also be us;ed to ak~rt ~gainSt unsafe practices 'and property-

damage-only accidents. ' , ' . '

l MPORTANT:
IMPORTANT describes improper handling procedures that may adversely al~ect pertormance
or damage the equipment.

1 .1 Safety

Basic Operating Precautions

{~, o When accessing the machine interior for inspection or servicing, turn the power switch to STANDBY
{~=. place the built-in circuit breaker in the OFF ( O ) position, and turn OFF the facility power circuit bre~ker.

AWARNING
Inspecting or servicing the inside of the machine with the facility power circuit breaker left ON may expose
personnel to hazardous conditions and damage the maclline.

e If the machine emits smoke, generates an ab,normal ,sound or its external surface becomes unduly hot,
immediately stop using it, set the power switch to STANDBY, place the built-in circuit breaker in the OFF
( O ) position, turn OFF the facility power circuit breaker, and contact your local dealer.

~WARNING
Do not modify the machine without permission from the nlanufacturer because safety assurance features and
other essential functions may be impaired. If the machine needs to be modified, contact your local dealer.

~WARNING
Never remove covers or other parts that are screwed dovvn because such will increase the risk of electric
shock or injury to personnel. If any parts need to be unscrewed, contact your local dealer.

o Use only Fujifilm recommended replacement parts.

l MPORTANT:
If parts other than those recommended by Fujifilm are us,ed, the warranty will be voided.

ACAUTION
Do not operate the machine with cover~ openlclose sensors forced ON while the covers are open. These
sensors serve as safety switches. If they are forced ON, the system concludes that the covers are closed
making the machine operative, and this may expose personnel to hazardous conditions and damage the
machine.

e Never position objects in close proximity to pr'ocessing ordryersection cover vents. Such will impair
machine ventilation thereby causing temperal[ure control problems.

~CAUTION
Take care to avoid injury when replacing the cutter blades.

1 .2 RoOm Conditions

e Temperature: 15to 30'C (59 to 86'F)

Ambient room temperatures above 30'C (86"F) c,r below 1 5'C (59'F) will destabilize processing and
replenisher solution temperatures to the detriment of processing performance. Pay special attention to
winter room temperatures and maintain solution temperatures within designated ranges.
Also, ensure that the processing chemical storage temperatures are not below 1 5'C (59'F).

o Relative Humidity: 30 to 70'1-

Relative humidities above 70'/• will result in inadequate printer paper t

abnormal prints. Maintain ambient room relative humidity
e Ventilation

Furnish a vent in close proximity to the processor' section and maintain adequate ventilation.

e lllumination: 500 Iux or lower

Maintain room illumination levels so that no more than 500 Iux impinges on the processor loader cover. If
the equipment main body is exposed to direct ouliside ligllt or strong reflected light, use curtains or blinds
to shield the equipment from such extraneous light.

REFERENCE, Two 40w nuorescent lamps provide 500 Iux ,of iuumination at a distance ot I meter (3. 3 ft).

NoTE: Excessivety high indoor illumination levels adversety affect tinis'hed negative quality.

o Never expose the room temperature/humidity sensor on 'the machine to direct airfrom the airconditioner.
Do not place a heat source near the room temperature/h]umidity sensor, or the automatic water
replenishment function will not operate properly.

A film is classified as "irregular' if it is wet, if it has been spliced after being cut or torn, if its pertorations are
damaged, or if its cartridge is bent out of shape. The table below lists the symptoms and remedies.

IMPORTANT:
Unless full explanations are provided by the customer when receiving film for processing, detecting at least
two film irregularity types such as either wet or jamm*led films, may not be possible.

1 1 .3 Replacing CirculatiOn Filters

The processing solution circulation filters are pro'vided to filter out dirt and sediment from the circulating
processing solutions. Clogging of these filters will reduce the flow of circulating solutions. Although filter
clogging depends on the volume of film processed, all circulation filters should be replaced once a month.
Also replace the circulation filters when replacing the pro, cessing solutions.

~ CAUTION
When handling processing chemicals or solutions, wear safety goggles, protective gloves and other
appropriate protective gear, so as to avoid direct contact with chemicals.
When replacing processing solutions or cleaning solution tanks, wear a waterproof apron so as to avoid direct
contact with chemical solutions.
Wash hands thoroughly after handling processing chemicals of solutions.

IMPORTANT:
If processing solution circulation filters are not cleaned or replaced, the processing solution flow may be
reduced. This will impair temperature control which in irurn will deteriorate processing performance.
Clean or replace the filters one at a time in the normal processing sequence to avoid processing solution
inter-contamination.
