We use a passive verb when whe don’t know who did something or the action is more important than who does it. We form the passive with the correct form of the verb BE and the 3rd form of a verb.
Ex 1.: Somebody built this house in 1935. Active
This house was built in 1935. Passive
Who built this house? – It doesn’t really matter.
No subject the verb changes: built-was built
Ex 2.: Rita writes a letter. Active
