Installing Adobe Acrobat

You cannot run Acrobat from the CD. You must install the
components onto your hard drive and run the software from that
drive.

To install Acrobat for Windows:

1 Restart Windows and do not start any other applications.
2 Insert the Adobe Acrobat CD into your CD drive.
3 On the Autoplay splash screen, click Install Acrobat Standard.
4 In the Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard Setup dialog box, click Next
whenever you are ready to proceed. Follow the on-screen
instructions to read the introduction, select a language, and
accept the license agreement.
5 Enter your name, your organization (optional), and the serial
number for your copy of the program, and then click Next.

Note: The serial number is located on the outside of the CD case.

6 Select the type of installation that you want, and then click
Next:
• Typical installs the program files for Acrobat, Acrobat Distiller,
PDFMaker, the Adobe PostScript printer driver for your system,
standard plug-ins, the accessories, and the online
documentation.
• Complete installs all Acrobat features and requires the most
disk space.
• Custom lets you specify which components to install. You can
include support for PDF documents with Asian-language text or
optional plug-ins for creating and viewing Adobe PDF files.

For a description of a component, select Custom, and click Next.

Then select a component to see its description. Click Back to
return to selecting a type of installation if you do not want to
continue with a custom installation.

7 If you selected custom installation, select the components

that you want to install, and click Next. The dialog box displays
the amount of disk space required to install each component.
Click Space to see how much disk space is available. You can
also select a component from the list, and click the icon next to
it to remove items within that component.
8 If you want to change the destination folder for the Acrobat
files, click Change and navigate to the destination. Click OK.
9 Click Next, and then click Install to begin the installation.
10 When the process is complete, a message tells you that Adobe
Acrobat is installed. Click Finish to complete the installation.
