B. Reading Comprehension

1 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria in 1756.

His father was a great musician who taught Mozart everything he

knew. Since he was young, Mozart had proven himself again and again

to be a highly talented pianist, violinist and composer.

5 In fact, he composed his first symphony when he was only an

8-year-old boy. As a young adult, he travelled to many places in

Europe to give performances and had composed a variety of musical

works, but few loved his music and he found it difficult to earn a

living. Fortunately, he got a job as an organist and his operas at last

10 became famous. However, he continued to have financial problems.

Near the end of 1791, Mozart became ill and he died soon at the age

of 35.

Today, Mozart is acknowledged as one of the world’s greatest

composers and his works remain popular. He is famous for the range

music, piano concertos and pieces for violin and wind instruments.
