4.2.3 Mechanical Tests

Mechanical tests should be carried out as indicated for API 5L PSL2.

The test specimens will consist of samples from the same

manufacturing process, from the same heat and with the same heat
treatment. The test samples should be taken after the final heat
treatment.

4.2.4 Impact test

Charpy impact tests must be carried out. The impact test will be at a
temperature of -4 °C where tests of transversal and longitudinal
specimens will be carried out for: the body of the pipe, the weld and the
heat affected zone (HAZ).

The results of the impact tests for the average of three tests and the
minimum values of individual tests for specimens of standard size of
10 mm x 10 mm should be at least the values indicated in the
following table:

If undersized test specimens are used, the values indicated in Table 2

should be multiplied by the following factors:

10 x 7.5 mm 0.75
10 x 5.0 mm 0.50
10 x 3.3 mm 0.33
Table 3: Correction factors for undersized specimen

4.2.5 Drop Weight Tear (DWT)

The Drop Weight Tear test (DWT) shall be carried out in accordance
with the recommendations from API RP 5L3 considering a test
temperature of -4ºC.

4.2.6 Impact test to the longitudinally welded joint

An impact test shall be carried out on the welded joint as indicated in
Table 20 of the standard API 5L "Number, orientation and location of
test pieces per simple for mechanical test by PSL 2 pipe".

250 HV10 for both the base metal, the weld and the heat affected zone.
The hardness tests will be carried out after the heat treatment of weld.

4.2.8 Hydrostatic test

The hydrostatic tests of the pipes will be carried out in accordance to
paragraph 10.2.6 of API 5L considering a test pressure that generates a
hoop stress of 90% of the SMYS.

4.2.9 Non-destructive tests

The non-destructive tests will be in accordance to what is indicated for
API 5L PSL2 and Annex E of the same code.

The supplier must indicate how many rows of pipes will be allowed as
maximum stacking.

An anti-rust coating should be provided for areas of bare external steel

suitable for a duration of 2 years in a marine environment and easily
removable at the Client's site.

All exterior surfaces will be covered to prevent deterioration of the

external coating. Coated pipes will be managed in order to protect the
steel and its coating.

Each pipe will be protected by sealed plastic caps at the ends to

prevent damage to its bevels during transport and to avoid that strange
elements enter to the pipe interior. Before sealing, a pre-packed
desiccant shall be provided at each pipe end.

The quantity and type of desiccant shall be sufficient to guaranty
