What is dengue?

Dengue is a viral infection transmitted to humans
through the bite of infected mosquitoes. This dengue
virus most commonly occurs in tropical and subtropical
areas of the world.
Symptoms
Once infected, symptoms of the disease usually begin
4–10 days after infection and last for 2–7 days. The
symptoms may include:
Most cases of mild dengue fever can be treated at
home with pain medicine.
 Rest as much as possible.
 Take paracetamol (e.g. Biogesic) to control fever
and relieve pain.
 Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.
 Avoid non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,
like ibuprofen and aspirin
