Surgical intervention for squamous cell carcinoma of the neck in patients over 60 years of age was compared to chemotherapeutic drugs along with chemoradiotherapy to determine the most effective treatment. Chemotherapeutic drugs combined with chemoradiotherapy were found to be as effective as surgical intervention for treating squamous cell carcinoma of the neck in older patients.
