Audibase 5 Installation
When installing Audibase on an unknown PC, it may be necessary to first right click
on ‘Setup.exe’ and select:
Problem: Software installer stops responding when it gets to the stage of ‘Microsoft
Data Access Components 2.0 setup’.
1) Select ‘Close the program’, which then allows the remainder of the installation to
complete.
2) After installation, Windows may be slow to respond, but a re-boot will rectify this.
For now, select ‘Ignore’. When Installation is complete, follow the steps below:
1) Browse to the Audibase CD and locate the Cabinet file called ‘Audibase54.CAB’
(‘.CAB’ may not be visible):
www.amplivox.ltd.uk
2) Double click on the CAB file to open it and locate the file called ‘COMCTL32.ocx’.
Right click on this file and select ‘Extract…’. Choose to extract this file to the
Windows Desktop temporarily:
3) Right click on the COMCTL32.ocx file and copy it from the Desktop to the location
C:\Windows\SysWOW64.

Amplivox USB or USB – serial driver installation
Problem: Installing the drivers fails. A message informing the user that ‘The hash
for the file is not present in the specified catalog file’ is displayed. Note: The
procedure below may have to be repeated if Windows 8.0 is upgraded to Windows
8.1 (or higher).
Older adapters using the chipsets listed below are not supported in Windows 8.
PL2303H
PL-2303HX (RevA)
PL-2303X
The latest adapter driver software from Prolific is supplied with a small program
called ‘PL2303CheckChipVersion.exe’ allowing the chipset inside the adapter to be
checked. Latest driver software is available from here:
http://www.prolific.com.tw/US/ShowProduct.aspx?p_id=225&pcid=41
If it is found the chipset is one of the above, a new L04 adapter will have to be
obtained from Amplivox.
