MetOhDS of Cooking
By Michael Ajao
WE WILL COVER the
cooking methods:
• Boiling
• Frying
• Deep Frying
• Baking
• Grilling
• Steaming
Boiling
• Boiling is when a liquid
becomes a vapor by
touching a hot surface
for example an egg
Frying
• frying, the cooking of food in hot fats
or oils, usually done with a shallow
oil bath in a pan over a fire or as so-
called deep fat frying, in which the
food is completely immersed in a
deeper vessel of hot oil. For example
plantain
Deep frying

•The process involves submerging

a food in extremely hot oil until
it reaches a safe minimum
internal temperature. When the
food is deep-fried properly, it
will be hot and crispy on the
outside and cooked safely in the
center. Deep frying is very fast
and, when performed properly,
destroys bacteria. For example
chicken wings
Baking
• Baking is a method of cooking
that uses dry heat in an
enclosed space. Typically done
in an oven, baking occurs when
heat makes contact with dough
or batter and causes the starches
in the dish to change form. For
example Cookies
Grilling

• Grilling is a form of
cooking that involves
heat applied to the
surface of food,
commonly from above,
below or from the side .
For example Corn.
Steaming
• Steaming is a method of
cooking that requires
moist heat. The heat is
created by boiling
water which vaporizes
into steam. The steam
brings heat to the food
and cooks it.
