EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The need of leaving requires that the learners be oriented to all aspect possible to the normal
working condition .this has provided two dimension aspect that involve classroom work and
industrial application of the classwork .this document therefore provides a documentations of the
activities accomplished during the industrial attachment of water and sanitation .the objective of
the attachment was to able me as an attach to:
Gain hand on skill on electrical wiring system components.
Learn and appreciate practical what takes in normal working environment.
Examine various roles and responsibilities of various players in an organization.
In to appreciate the need of teamwork, as an attach I was not only the student on attachment at
the organization but also were other students who attached from various institutions and
therefore teamwork was highly encouraged .this institution has various staff in the electrical
section .this attachment lasted for three months.
During this period I was able to learn & accomplish the following task and responsibilities.
Electrical wiring and maintenance under which I carried out the installation of electrical wiring

CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background Information

Central Electrical International Limited engineering work was established on the year 1951 the
institution was founded by the private fund. The company was basically to held Mombasa
residents on matters entails electrical knowledge and repairing of damaged electrical machines
together with electricity installation.
Central Electrical International Limited has 8 members of stuff who are trained professionally as
in electrical expertise these are the members that facilitate easy working environment in the
ministry. It has its main headquarter in Mombasa with branches all over the Nation e.g. Kisumu,
Nairobi etc.

1.2 Objectives Of The Central Electrical International Limited

Central Electrical International Limited shall engage in the discovery of new knowledge and
skills for addressing the electrical problems and solving the problems at the same time.

1.3 Strategic Objectives

To produce graduates equipped with new knowledge, skills, altitude and acquire employment.
To equip the students with the current & digital knowledge concerning electrical background in
the current world.

LITERATURE REVIEW
Information transfer within the organization.
Information transfer within the organization is down in an upward and downward manner
through all available protocol within the within the directorate which is done in turn with the
consent of electrical directorate.

2.2 Electrical Installation and Maintenance

The attaché had worked with most maintenance on the field and installation of electrical in new
buildings did installation because it was a requirement that all building nowadays in the country
have two different installation that is temporary and permanent.
E .g (1) temporary is one done during public gathering at a particular grounds (ii) Permanent is
one that installed on buildings

2.3 Installation Of Electrical Machine

Most of other and newly employed staff on their requests, installations 0f various machines that
in various places in ministry were made mainly to assist the senior staff and the other concerned
member of the staff to stall to take records and the how the patients are progress by accessing
record and also some machine used in operation

2.5 Replacement Of Wires And Tubes

Most of time wires and tube may experience some faults like slow and low performance and
much damaged due to usage uneven power supply that, use of generate power and electricity
power which results to bursting of the bulb and burning of electrical wires.

2.6 Installation Of The Meter Box

This machine is used to measure the voltage by use of voltmeter, current by the use of ammeter
and the continuity of the current entering to consumer box for the distribution of current of
different places for the operation of the machines in different destination in the ministry. This
reduces the excess power from damaging the machine
2.7 Installation Of Consumer Tubes
This consumer are used to control amount of electricity current to avoid more current and little
current that may affect the functioning of machine in the ministry and also the destruction of
machine due to different alternating current either from Generator or electricity.

2.9 Replacing of motors

We learn two types of motors:
a) Single phase motor
b) Three phase motors

Single phase motor has a capacitor while three phase does not have capacitor.

2.1.0 Equipment and machine maintenance

Each and every machine in the organization in all the departments where the machines are
allocated are maintained daily to ensure that service offered in the ministry and the staff and
consumers enjoy them

2.2 Requirement capture and analysis

The following method were use in the requirement elicitation and analysis process.

Questionnaires

A set of structured questions were designed and sent to various university departments to find
out from the lab i.e. to collect exactly what they felt and/or think should be contained in the
proposed system.

Interview

Interviews were also used to seek audience with the various department heads, administrator and
some students if they were ready for the new system and the requirement were documented.
Observations
The designer also carried out a well –organized observation see and register various challenges
students and lectures face while looking for lab items in the stories

CHAPTER THREE:

PURPOSE OF WORK UDERTAKEN

3.1 Purpose Of Work Undertaken

The main purpose of the work that I undertook is to make the ministry better than I found it with
the development of the electrical machines especially lab machines and electrical machines and
computer and also the development authorized inventory machine especially lab machine and
electricity cables provided by depart I also helped the staff with their day to day operating some
machines especially the senior staff and maintenance and maintaining them.
I undertook the following assignment during his period developing the inventory system and
installation of software in the computer lab

3.2 Collecting And Disposing All Unrepairable Machines

Updating machines is done to ensure that the user get the latest of the machines and equipment’s
that help in the discussion and provision for support .upgrading ensure that all latest development
reach the user updating ensure that the latest definition are used for better performance and ads
on. This ensure machines security.

3.3 Replacing All Dis Functioning Parts Of The Machine And Equipment.
All parts with fault are replaced with new parts to enhance the proper functioning of the machine
and thus improving the performance of equipment and machine mostly used in all the department
.this ensure that every department is working properly.
PROBLEMS
As a attaches in the company I underwent some problems namely;
 Limited Communication
 Road Travelling
 “US” versus “them” mentality
 Dynamic work environment
 Physical activities
SOLUTIONS
 The company should provide regular feedback.
 The company’s director needs to have a talk with his employees. Review their
performance and hear how they are doing.
 The company director should provide the right mapping for the site to be worked on.
CHAPTER FOUR

CONCLUSION
The attaché was attached in the electrical department office section. This is a new section
because all electrical issues were handled by the DIRECTOR.I enjoyed my attachment because
of a good relationship I upheld with the other employees.
During my stay in the office and maintain department of electrical department in learnt that
developers need internet services all the time considering that the attaches was doing updates and
developing the website that entirely depended on the internet.
RECOMMENDATION
The attaches recommends improving the internet connection package.
The attaches also recommend any student who want to gain real life practical experience in the
field of Electrical engineering to Central Electrical International Limited.
