The rise of mobile technology is probably


the fastest and most understated paradigm
shift our culture has ever seen.
“Mobile” has enhanced the ways we
connect with each other, redefined what
commands our attention, and given birth
to new industries.
SMARTPHONES REPLACING
TRADITIONAL MEDIA

A mobile device is your music collection and movie


library. It’s also a bookshelf, a gaming console, a
social network, a notepad, sketchbook, calender,
camera, address book, and alarm clock, that
conveniently fits in your pocket.
Why are all of the traditional outlets
going downhill?

It all comes down to where advertisers


are spending their money. Informed
marketers spend where the people are.

What’s an Internet?

The internet is a global network of interconnected


computer networks that communicate using a
standardized set of protocols. It is a vast
infrastructure that allows the exchange and sharing
of information, data, and resources across the
world.
Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (ARPANET)

ARPANET initially connected four independent network nodes


situated at University of California, Los Angeles
(UCLA), Stanford Research Institute (SRI), the University of
California-Santa Barbara (UCSB) and the University of Utah.

Blogging engines are software or platforms that

Streaming platforms refer to services that deliver

Typically Informative text content found online on different reputable
websites of print publications. Articles found on these websites are
generally factual and backed by research.

2. SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS
Made by regular users unaffiliated with brands or celebrities and are
typically opinionated and personal. Brands, Companies, Institutions and
news websites are also using this platform to establish their online
presence and contents.

• Streaming services like Netflix and Amazon allow users to


access pre-recorded videos and movies online. This is known as
Video on Demand or VoD.

• Offers library of shows and films through monthly subscriptions


and content are generally ad-free.

Twitch, facebook Live, or Youtube Live.

• Offers streamer and viewers interaction through the live chatbox


4. VLOGGING

• Involves creating video content that is pre-recorded and uploaded

• No live interactions with the audience, but they can leave


comments or message the vlogger privately through email or
social media accounts.

Because vlogging is flexible, there are numerous types of vlogs,
eaach catering to a specific audience by performing specific
purposes:
• Product Reviews, Unboxing and Reaction Videos
• Comedy
• Food - “Mukbang”
• Travel
• DIY
• Beauty and Fasion

After watching a short animation called “Welcome to the
Internet,” create a 1-paragraph reflection on a 1/2 sheet
of crosswise paper answering the question:

"What are the benefits and drawbacks of the internet for


me?"
