This annotated bibliography provides a summary of an article that uses Sigmund Freud's psychoanalytic theory to analyze the character of Heathcliff in Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights. The article identifies Heathcliff's developing nature and how he challenges the social norms of his time. It argues that Heathcliff has suffered from narcissistic personality disorder and has undergone countless wicked and violent behaviors due to the trauma of his upbringing. However, Heathcliff also offers a vision of radical change and liberation through his defiance of the oppressive social structures of his era. This source will be useful for research on Heathcliff's transformation from an orphan child to an anti-hero.

Al-Hasani, Hayder M.Saadan M.Ridhi.(2023). “Heathcliff’s Revolutionary Persona in
Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights, A Psychoanalytic Reading.” The Bulletin of Advanced English Studies,8(1),22-31.https://www.researchgate.net/publication/371267790. In this article, Al-Hasani (2023) identifies Heathcliff developing nature, which is shown by significance to the novel and to highlight how he challenges the norms and values of his society. The author intends to examine Heathcliff’s identity on the basis of Sigmund Freud, psychoanalytic interpretation. The methodology involves close reading, analysis of key scenes and interactions of the text, Wuthering Heights. The paper’s limitation is its sole focus on Heathcliff’s deformed character which cannot give a strong defense him as a victim. The paper concludes that Heathcliff is the tragic villain because of his countless wicked and often useless violent behaviors. Besides, it shows that Heathcliff has been suffered from a narcissistic personality disorder. It also argues that Heathcliff’s character not only provides a critique of the oppressive social and economic structures of his time but also offers a vision of radical change and liberation. This paper is useful for my research on “Heathcliff’s transformation as an orphan child to an anti-hero” as it expresses how other character psychologically transform Heathcliff as a deform character. It helps me to analyze the character of Heathcliff in depth.
