RESEARCH TOPIC
Ultrasound guided brachial plexus block: indications, technique and results

PROBLEMS
For surgeries of the upper limb, many hospitals in Yaounde make use of General Anesthesia as
the anesthetic technique of choice though there are other methods which can be used for such
surgeries with good hemodynamic stability, less complications and less side effects on the
patient and with which the patient stays awake throughout the procedure. So this research aims at
demonstrating a loco-regional anesthesia technique called the brachial plexus block that can be
used in surgeries of the upper limb which can be more convenient for the patient and the
Anesthetist.

NEW PERSPECTIVES OF THE RESEARCH

 It is a technique that is rarely practiced in our society though it has so many benefits on
the patient especially.
 Showing the importance of a brachial plexus block for upper limbs surgeries compared to
general anesthesia commonly practiced for such surgeries.
 The different routes of administration and their advantages.
 The different techniques used compared to the norms.
