Dear Head Teacher,
I am writing this letter to invite you to attend our school art exhibition, which this
year will be held on Wednesday 16 February 2022. Our aim is to encourage good
students to improve their skills, especially their drawing.

We would also like to invite students from your school to take part in the
exhibition. Each school can invite up to ten participants. A complete list of
participants from each school should reach us no later than 16 January. Please
note that each participant is allowed to enter up to three drawings.

The exhibition was first launched in November 2018. At the time, it was a very
simple event, with only a few participants, less than twenty, in fact. I am glad to
say, however, that this situation quickly changed, and we now expect to have
around three hundred participants, from both public and private schools. We are
also this year involving for the first time students from schools catering for special
needs. We have, of course, made every effort to ensure that this event will be a
success. The task of organizing the event will especially be demanding this year
owing to the increased number of participants.

Our exhibition will be at the school's main hall, which is large enough for the
display of seven hundred pictures. Five other smaller rooms will also be used for
various purposes. (I enclose a plan of the school, showing the location and
function of each of the rooms.) Fifty of our students will also be available all
around the school to assist participants and guests and to answer any questions.

At the end of the event, every participant will receive a reward, and the students
who have produced the best drawings will be awarded valuable prizes, according
to different categories, such as age group and type of drawing. These awards will
be decided by a group of judges consisting of five members, including
representatives from the Ministry of Education and the Faculty of Art at Sultan
Qaboos University. In addition, at the end of the event, all our guests will be
asked to fill in an evaluation questionnaire.
This kind of feedback will be extremely helpful to us, especially as we are

planning, from 2022 onwards, to host two such art exhibitions every year.

I hope that I have been successful in explaining the goal of our exhibition and in
arousing your interest. I look forward to receiving your reply in the near future.
Yours faithfully,
Mohamed Ali
Head Teacher of the School

The famous British tea company, Lipton's, is named after its founder,
Thomas Lipton, who was born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1848. He was
educated locally, but stopped going to school at the age of thirteen,
and worked as a tailor to help his parents.

In 1865, Lipton moved to the USA to look for a better job. He spent
six years there, traveling all over the country. He had a number of
jobs, such as a salesman in New Orleans and a shop assistant in New
York. During this time, he learned the American way of running a
successful business using attractive slogans.

After saving money, Lipton returned to Scotland in 1871 and opened

his own grocery shop, selling mainly traditional items like ham, eggs,
cheese, and butter. But he also began looking for something new. He
had noticed that tea was an expensive drink that could only be
enjoyed by upper-classes people. So he decided to make good quality
tea available at low prices to everyone.

The tea was grown in Sri Lanka, where Lipton purchased his own tea
gardens. He also insisted on arranging his own shipping, packing and
delivery to shops. In his way, he was able to cut costs and sell
Lipton's tea at much lower prices than any other producers. His teas
were also available in different-sized packets to suit people with
different incomes. Finally, he made all these products popular using
his famous slogan: " Direct from the tea garden to the teapot", which
could be seen on posters all over the country.

In 1898 at the age of 50, Queen Victoria honored him with the title,
"Sir Thomas Lipton". This was in recognition of his contribution to the
tea industry, to the British economy, and to tea drinkers everywhere.
