REFLECTIONS/LIFE

We Meet Through
Serendipity
May 6, 2022

W
e meet through
serendipity. Through
fluke or happenstance.

Sometimes we are strangers

passing by one another without
even a glance between us.

We may meet someone and

follow them into their future,
which then becomes ours.

Or we may stand in place and

watch them walk their path
alone.

00:32

So much of life isn’t planned or

preordained.

“We are afraid to care too

much, for fear that the other
person does not care at all.”
– Eleanor Roosevelt

Sometimes we stumble upon a

person we come to love in this
world filled with billions of
people.

The test is whether he or she is

going to stand by you, or are
they just passing through your
life on the way to somewhere or
someone else?

What begins as a bloom does

not always open into a flower.
Or it does and when the flower
fades, so does the relationship.

Often people say that

something that is irrevocably
broken just wasn’t meant to be.
Which, in magical terms, means
it wasn’t your fate or destiny.

But there is really nothing

magical about the world we live
in.

We meet through serendipity.

Through fluke or happenstance.

“People change and forget to

tell each other.” – Lillian
Hellman

You walk into a store one day

and someone bumps into you
by accident. After the initial
shock of nearly being knocked
off your feet, you look up at that
person.

Learn more

A stranger looks back at you.

And maybe one thing turns into
another and it becomes
something more.

Days and weeks and months

will or won’t cement the
serendipitous meeting. Maybe
you will eventually marry, and
maybe you will go your separate
ways.

Friendship is much the same I

suppose. People meet and they
are either compatible or they’re
not.

Some friendships deepen into a

lifetime relationship that
passes the test of time.

Learn more

And sometimes you find that

you don’t have all that much in
common, and so you part ways.

“When someone shows you

who they are, believe them
the first time.” – Maya
Angelou

One day you may think of that

person you met “back then” and
not be able to even recall their
name.

Eventually, you will forget how

you even met in this story called
life. And they won’t even be a
memory. Just someone passing
through.

We as a human race are looked

at from afar as small dots.
Always moving; seldom in one
place for long.

Life is a creation of
possibilities. There will be love
and there will be grief.

Learn more

There may be marriage and

then ultimately divorce. And of
course what happened in
between.

The pages then become

chapters that represent the
passing of time.

We meet through serendipity.

Through fluke or happenstance.

A seed may be planted and the

seed may become a bloom.
Your bloom may open up into a
glorious flower.

Or the wind may break it at its

stem.

The bloom may open, but one

day fade.

And then you take a different

path and move on.

“Truth is everybody is going

to hurt you: you just gotta
find the ones worth suffering
for.” – Bob Marley

Beautifully written and thought

provoking. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Brenda, love the blue pots. In my

old garden I needed a row of blocks
like in your garden to direct storm
water and keep mulch on my garden.
I filled each hole nearly to the top
with potting mix then had very small
pebbles on the top, always looked
neat. Just an idea, I know you will get
your area looking lovely.

Brenda says:

I like your idea!

Beautiful and so well written! Hope

you have a wonderful Mother’s Day.

Love you writing tonight…

You nailed it (life) on the head.
Thank you.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Plants look wonderful.

Brenda says:
May 6, 2022 at 8:32 pm

I’m working on getting plants on

the patio. I have to put them close
to the concrete block step-down so
I can water them from a watering
can without having to walk on that
unsteady ground.

Beautifully written, thoughtful post,

Brenda. I believe that people come
into our lives for a reason, briefly or
not. The quote by Lillian Hellman
really hit me. So true!

Brenda says:
May 6, 2022 at 8:33 pm

And we may never know the

reasons, but they play a part in our
lives.

Brenda, lovely and profound tho’ts on

life and relationships. And the quote
from Maya Angelou has been one of
my favorites for a long time. And the
patio with the beautiful blue pots and
the rocks is looking lovely. Little by
little it’s coming together and reflects
you genius at decorating and
growing plants.

I hope your weekend is enjoyable and

your Mother’s Day is happy.

Brenda says:

Same to you.

Hi Brenda,
I believe that people come into our
paths for a reason. Some will be with
us until we take our last breath and
others will be in our paths for just a
short while. Maybe to teach us
something not sure. Good post. Have
a nice day on Sunday for Mom’s Day.

Brenda says:
May 6, 2022 at 4:40 pm

Those are pretty poetic words you

wrote.

Elizabeth says:

Well written, Brenda…so true it

seems too…often just ships passing
in the night…other times to never
leave. So many uncertainties in life…
but we must be oh so sure not to
disregard the unsought gifts too…
often turn out to be real jewels!!
(After testing some to see if the gift
really is one, of course).

Beautiful post today. What a talent

you have. Thank you.

Brenda says:
May 6, 2022 at 4:44 pm

Why thank you for your kind words.

Ann E says:

Your pots look pretty!!!… Totally off

topic on your post today, but could it
be fun to have those tall candles that
have a remote, stuck into those brick
holes? … for some reason that just
came to me in that picture probably
because you have those nice large
river rocks!!!

Brenda says:
May 6, 2022 at 4:41 pm

Do they have them for outdoors?

Colleen V says:
May 7, 2022 at 1:48 am

They do, Brenda. I have some

that are indoor/outdoor. I haven’t
used them outdoor at this point
but apparently you can. I’d give a
link but I bought them on sale
from the Hudson Bay Company
at Christmas and they sold out.

Ann E says:
May 7, 2022 at 11:03 am

Yes they do!

J says:
May 6, 2022 at 1:18 pm

I knew you’d figure out some kind of

gardening situation that’s easiest for
u Brenda! Nice post today to get
everyone thinking!
Have a fantastic weekend!

Brenda says:
May 6, 2022 at 4:42 pm

I am not able to get dirt into pots

right now. So the plants are just
setting in there.

Bonnie Schulte says:

Loving the picture of your patio.

Can’t wait to see a bigger photo, with
the sitting area too.

Brenda says:
May 6, 2022 at 4:42 pm

It needs to be a bit cleaned up out

there first.

Lynda says:
May 6, 2022 at 12:51 pm

That is a lovely photo up top! And I

love the two blue garden pots.

Brenda says:
May 6, 2022 at 4:43 pm

Ordered those 2 big blue pots from

Lowes a couple of years ago.
They’re plastic and quite thick.

Laura says:

What a beautiful, well written, and

thought provoking post! The people
who are meant to stay in your life
will, and the rest will hopefully teach
us something, I suppose. I really
enjoyed today’s post, Brenda! Thank
you!

Brenda says:
May 6, 2022 at 4:43 pm

I do hope they teach us something.

Darlene says:

you for sharing the Bob Marley quote
– it resonates and speaks volumes.
Enjoy your day – be happy!
