Part II. Proposed Enterprise Information
GROUP MEMBERS:
Brief Description of the proposed agri-fishery enterprise (not more than 250 words)
1. Introduction:
The traditional open-field production of hot pepper, tomato and onion is restricted by unfavorable weather conditions, which can
result in yield losses and decreased crop quality. These factors include severe heat, excessive rainfall, and protracted droughts.
Furthermore, changes in temperature and humidity might prevent these crops from growing properly, lowering their nutritional
content and market attractiveness. By offering a controlled microenvironment where temperature, humidity, light, and other
development parameters may be tailored to fit the particular requirements of hot pepper, tomato and onion, greenhouse culture
offers a chance to lessen these difficulties.
Compared to traditional open-field methods, greenhouse farming has a number of advantages. Growers can manage variables
like temperature, relative humidity, light intensity, and carbon dioxide content in the controlled environment. This setting permits
the extension of the growing season past customary boundaries, allowing for off-season production. A greenhouse's reduced
exposure to pests and illnesses can also reduce the need for chemical pesticides, encouraging the use of more sustainable
agriculture practices.
The cultivation of off-season vegetables, such as hot pepper, tomato and onion, offers the potential to ensure a year-round
supply of these essential crops. Greenhouse cultivation provides a controlled environment that can mitigate adverse climatic
conditions and optimize growth parameters. This research proposal aims to investigate the effects of greenhouse conditions on
the growth, yield, and quality of hot pepper and onion crops during off-season periods.
