Q.2) Use the Gram-Schmidt orthonormalization process to transform the given basis for a
subspace of R4 into an orthonormal basis for the subspace. Use the Euclidean inner product
for R4 for the set of vectors given below:

Q.3) [Clo 2] (5+10+15) marks

(a) Let T : R3 → R3 be a transformation such that

T (x, y, z) = (x + y, x − y, z).

Show that T is a linear transformation.

(b) The linear transformation is defined by T (→

x ) = A(→

x ), where

Find (i) ker(T ), (ii) nullity (T ), (iii) range (T ) and (iv) rank (T ).
(c) For the given matrix A

(ii) find an orthogonal matrix P such that P T AP diagonalizes A and
(iii) verify that P T AP gives the proper diagonal form.
