I. Objectives:

At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:

a. Identify the basic table napkin folds and its procedures.

b. Recognize the importance of using table napkin folding in dining.

c. Perform different style of napkin folding.

II. Subject Matter:

 The teacher asked students “What are the different kinds of Linen that are
included in the Table Appointments and Set-Up?”

IV. Lesson Proper

TABLE NAPKIN- It is a square piece of cloth or paper use at a meal to wipe the
fingers or lips and to protect garments.

USES OF TABLE NAPKIN

1. Catches Crumbs

3. Contains Coughs and Sneezes
4. Napkins End the Meal
EXAMPLE OF TABLE NAPKIN FOLDING TECHNIQUES

The Pyramid

1. Fold napkin in half diagonally.


2. Fold corners to meet top point.
3. Turn napkin over and fold in half.
4. Pick up at center and stand on base of triangle.

The Candle

1. Fold napkin in half diagonally forming a triangle.


2. Fold one-fourth of the base edges of napkin up forming a cuff.
3. Turn napkin over. Carefully roll left to right.
4. Tuck the remaining corner inside the cuff to hold the candle firm.
5. Position the Candle with the highest point of the napkin facing you.

The Rosebud

1. Fold napkin in half diagonally.


2. Fold corners to meet at top point.
3. Turn the napkin and fold bottom point 2/3 way to top and fold back onto itself.
4. Turn napkin over bringing together, tucking one into the other.
5. Turn napkin around and stand on base.

The Crown

1. Fold napkin in half diagonally.


2. Fold corners to meet at top point.
3. Fold bottom point 2/3 way to top and fold back onto itself.
4. Turn the napkin over bringing together, tucking one into the other.
5. Peel two top corners to make crown. Open base of fold and stand upright.

The Fan
1. Fold napkin in half.
2. Fold width into accordion folds, leaving last four inches flat.
3. Fold accordion in half with folds on outside; four-inch flat will protrude
from the center.
4. Create a standby folding the four-inch flat toward the base of napkin letting
the folds fan out.

The Rose

1. Fold all four corners of a flat napkin into the center:


then fold four points again to the center.
2. Turn the napkin over and fold four points again to the center pressing all folds tightly.
3. Turn napkin to form a diamond. Using one hand to hold two points at front center of the
napkin and with the other hand reach under that point and pull up flap.
4. Repeat at three other points.
5. Holding center points, reach between petals and pull out additional flaps.

The Bird of Paradise


1. Fold the napkin in half and in half again.
2. Fold in half diagonally with points on the top and facing up.
3. Fold left and right sides down along center line, turning their extended points under.
4. Fold in half on long dimension with edges facing out.
5. Pull up points and arrange on a fabric surface.

Generalization
The teacher will be asked students “What is the importance of using/putting table napkin
folding in dining?

Application

The students will demonstrate 2 table napkin styles/ technique in class.
