1. Pursuant to the New HR methodology for induction of Agniveervayu under ‘Agnipath Scheme’,
aimed to provide an opportunity to Nation’s youth to experience military way of life for a period of four
years, Indian Air Force invites online application from unmarried Indian male candidates for
Recruitment Trials of Outstanding Sportsmen from 03 October 2023 to 05 Oct 2023 to
join the IAF as an AGNIVEERVAYU (Sports) in the following sports disciplines:-

2. Candidates are advised to take the print of the application form on A4 size paper only as per
the prescribed format given at the end of the advertisement. Non-standard application forms will be
rejected. The application form completed in all respect (signature, left hand thumb impression, affixing
photograph as mentioned in Para 18(a) along with educational and sports achievement documents)
are to be scanned and attached as one single PDF file which is to be sent on the official E-mail ID –
bluesports.rec@iaf.nic.in in a single mail only. Repetition of mail from individual’s E- mail id or re-
submission of same documents through different E-mail IDs is liable to be rejected. The Application

3. This Selection Trial is valid for AGNIVEERVAYU (SPORTS) INTAKE 02/2023 only.
4. Submission of filled application form shall commence at 1000h on 11 September 2023
and will close at 1700h on 20 September 2023. Only ONLINE submitted applications shall be
accepted.
(THE SELECTION TEST IS NOT FOR SELECTION AS COMMISSIONED OFFICERS / PILOTS /
NAVIGATORS)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

5. Age.

(a) Date of Birth Block. Candidate born between 26 December 2002 to 26 Jun 2006
(both dates inclusive) are eligible to apply.

(b) In case, a candidate clears all the stages of the Selection trial, then the upper age
limit as on date of enrolment should be 21 years.

6. Marital Status. Only unmarried male candidates will be eligible for enrolment as Agniveervayu
(Sports) and they shall undertake not to marry during the defined engagement period of four years.
Keeping in view limited period of engagement of Agniveervayu (Sports) inclusive of training, skill
development activities, practical as well as formative assessment and organisational requirement of
continued service of Agniveervayu (Sports) during the engagement period, longer absence of
Agniveervayu (Sports) during the engagement period will adversely affect the operational efficiency
of the Indian Air Force. Agniveervayu (Sports) who marry during the said period shall be discharged
from the service. Further, only unmarried Agniveervayu (Sports) will be eligible for selection in regular
cadre as Airman.

7. Educational Qualification

(a) Science Subjects

Candidates should have passed Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent examination with

Mathematics, Physics and English from an Education Boards recognised by Central,
State and UT with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
OR
Passed Three years Diploma Course in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical /
Electronics / Automobile / Computer Science / Instrumentation Technology /
Information Technology) from a Government recognized Polytechnic institute with 50%
marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in diploma course (or in
Intermediate/Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Diploma Course).

Passed Two years Vocational course with non-vocational subject viz. Physics
and Mathematics from Education Boards recognised by Central, State and UT with
minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in vocational course
(or in Intermediate / Matriculation, if English is not a subject in vocational course).

(b) Other than Science Subjects

Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent Examination in any stream/subjects approved

by Education Boards recognised by Central, State and UT with minimum 50% marks in
aggregate and 50% marks in English.

OR

Passed two years’ vocational course from Education Boards recognised by Central,
State and UT with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in
vocational course (or in Intermediate / Matriculation if English is not a subject in
Vocational Course).
Note - 1: Candidates eligible for Science Subjects examination (Including Intermediate/
10+2/three years’ diploma course in engineering or two years’ vocational course with non-
vocational subjects of Physics and Maths) are also eligible for Other than Science Subjects.

Note - 2: Education Boards recognised by Central, State and UT as on date of registrations

shall only be considered.

Note - 3: Exact aggregate Percentage of marks before decimal as written in the marks sheet
of 10+2/Intermediate/Equivalent Examination/Three years Diploma Course/Two years
Vocational Course OR calculated as per the rules of concerned Education Board / Polytechnic
Institute shall only be considered (For example 49.99% should be taken as 49% and not to be
rounded off to 50%).

8. SPORTS ACHIEVEMENTS

(a) Individual should have represented the country in Junior/Senior

International meets in any of the sports disciplines mentioned at Para 1. The
current achievement would be given preference during selection trials.

(b) Individual should have attained the minimum standard of fifth place in the
Junior National Championship, represented the State/Union Territory in Senior
National Championships or Inter University Championship in above mentioned
sports discipline. The current achievement would be given preference during
selection trials.

(c) In team events, the individual should have represented state in Junior
National Championship conducted by respective Sports Federations in above
mentioned sports discipline. The current achievement would be given preference
during selection trials.
(d) FOR CRICKET DISCIPLINE ONLY. - Candidates who have played All India
Inter-University or BCCI Trophies – U-19, U-23, Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy, Deodhar
Trophy or higher participation are only eligible to apply.

9. Mandatory Medical Standards. General Medical Standards for Agniveervayu (Sports) male
candidates are as follows:-

(a) Height: Minimum acceptable height is 152.5 cms.

(b) Weight: Proportionate to height and age.

(c) Chest: The chest wall should be well proportioned with minimum range of expansion
of 05 cms.

(d) Hearing: Candidate should have normal hearing i.e. able to hear forced whisper from a
distance of 6 meters by each ear separately.

(e) Dental: Should have healthy gums, good set of teeth and minimum 14 dental points.

(f) Visual standards

(g) Corneal Surgery (PRK/LASIK) is not acceptable.

Note: Candidates should bring prescription and spectacles for corrected vision, if used.
The latest prescription should contain diopter measurement, Ophthalmologist’s
registration number, stamp, signature and date of prescription should be within a month
prior to appearing for medical examination.

(h) General Health: Candidate should be of normal anatomy without loss of any
appendages. He should be free from any active or latent, acute or chronic, medical or surgical
disability or communicable disease, infection and skin ailments. Candidate shall be physically
and mentally FIT to perform duty in any part of the world, in any climate and terrain.

10. Consumption of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS). Consumption of

Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic substances banned under the NDPS Act 1985 shall be rejection
criteria for selection into the IAF. AGNIVEERVAYU found either in possession or storing or
distributing or consuming such drugs and substances after enrolment shall be liable for disciplinary
action including dismissal from the IAF. ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY TO ALCOHOLISM AND
SUBSTANCE ABUSE IS FOLLOWED IN IAF.

11. Body Tattoo. Permanent body tattoos are not permitted, however, tattoos only on inner face of
the fore arms (inside of elbow to the wrist), back (dorsal) part of the hand/reverse side of the palm and
Tribals with tattoo which are as per the custom and traditions of their tribes may be considered.
Offensive, obscene, indecent, sexist or racist tattoos are prohibited regardless of location on the body.
However, right to consider a tattoo acceptable or unacceptable will rest with the selection centre.
Candidates with permanent body tattoos are to submit two Postcard size photographs (close
up and distant view) with details of size and type of the Tattoo during the recruitment trial.

12. Only Sikh candidates, whose religion prohibits cutting of hair or shaving of face, shall be
permitted to grow hair and/or retain beard and moustache. Accordingly, those Sikh candidates willing
to retain the same as per laid down specification are to get their photographs with beard and
moustache.

13. Candidates discharged from Indian Army / Indian Navy / any other Government Organisation
shall also be eligible subject to their discharge with NO ADVERSE ENTRIES. Such candidate has to
declare at the Selection Trials venue that he is an Ex-employee of the Organisation discharged from
and produce original Discharge Certificate. In case of serving individuals, they must be in possession
of NOC from their employer at the time of Selection Trial. If any candidate does not disclose the fact
of being employed or that of being an Ex-employee, his candidature shall be cancelled at any stage
during the selection process and if selected shall be liable for discharge/dismissal for hiding the fact
of his employment and discharge/dismissal from service. Candidates discharged from Indian Air
Force for any reason are not eligible to appear in the selection trials.

14. Candidates found under the influence of performance enhancing drugs/substance abuse
(Dope) while participating in selection trials or any time before the date of enrolment, shall be
disqualified immediately and even if caught in dope or under influence of prohibited performance
enhancing drugs during the training in the training centre their candidature will be cancelled.

15. Candidates should be prepared to stay for the entire duration of the selection trials and medical
examination in Delhi/place mentioned in call letter for which they have to make their own arrangement.

16. However, in case of non availability of sports infrastructure of a particular sports in Delhi. Air
Force Sports Control Board (AFSCB) reserve the right to hold trials outside Delhi. Intimation/call
letters would be sent accordingly.

17. Candidates not reporting for the trial on due date and time shall not be accommodated on other
dates/shifts.

18. Documents Required. Candidates are to bring the following:-

(a) Ten copies of un-attested recent (taken not more than one month before, from the date
of publishing of the advertisement notification) passport size colour photographs (front portrait
in light background without head gear except for Sikhs). The photograph is to be taken with
candidate holding a black slate in front of his chest with his Name and Date of Photograph
taken, clearly written on it with white chalk in capital letters.
(b) Original and four self attested copies of Matriculation Passing Certificate (required for
Name, Date of Birth and father’s name verification).
(c) Original and four self-attested photocopies of Intermediate/10+2/ Equivalent
Examination Passing Certificate and Marks Sheet.

OR

Original and four self-attested photocopies of three years Diploma Course passing certificate
and mark sheets of all semesters.

OR

Original and four self-attested photocopies of two year vocation course passing certificate and
mark sheets including Non Vocational course with subject English, Physics and Mathematics.

(d) Original and four self-attested photocopies of matriculation mark sheet (only applicable
for three years Diploma course holders when English is not a subject in Diploma course).

(e) Original and four photocopies of Certificates of Sports Achievements.

(f) Original and four self-attested photocopies of duly filled Children of Air Force Personnel
(COAFP) Certificate (format available on AFNET CASB webpage) for Children of Serving Air
Force Personnel (or) Original and four self-attested photocopies of Service Book/Discharge
Book/Casualty Service Certificate/Service Particular certificate (issued from DPO-3/DAV, as
applicable) in case of Officer/Airmen/NCs(E) and a certificate duly signed by OIC Civil Admin
and countersigned by CO / C Adm O of the last served unit, in case of civilians for sons of
Retired/Deceased/Discharged Air Force personnel and proof of minimum stay of one year.

(g) Original and four self-attested photocopies of NCC ‘A’, ‘B’ or ‘C’ Certificate (if applicable).

(h) Character Certificate (in Original).

(j) Candidates serving/ discharged from Indian Army/Indian Navy/Any other

Government Organisation.

(i) Original and four Self-attested photocopies of Discharge Certificate (as issued
from Indian Army/Indian Navy/Government Organisation) subject to no adverse entry
in discharge certificate.

(ii) NOC in original and four self-attested photocopies from the employer for
candidates presently serving in any government organization (if applicable).

(k) CONSENT / UNDERTAKING FORM FOR PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST AND

MEDICAL TESTS. Candidates shall bring the “Consent Form’ (as per the format given below)
to the Selection Trials Venue (Tejas Camp, Air Force Station New Delhi, Lok Kalyan Marg,
New Delhi) and submit it before the Physical Fitness Test. Candidates below 18 years of age
shall get the Consent Form filled and signed by their parent/guardian. The candidates of 18
years of age or above are to sign the Undertaking Form themselves.

(l) Sports Kit.

Note. Under no circumstances shall the candidates be permitted to appear in the Trials
without Original Educational Marks Sheets/Passing Certificates & Documents
mentioned above in paragraph 18 (b) to (k). However, candidates with photocopies of
Educational Marks Sheets/Passing Certificates may be permitted to appear in the Trials
only on production of a ink signed certificate in original from College/School Principal
certifying that Educational Certificates/Marks sheets are deposited with College/School.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

19. Agniveervayu (Sports) will be enrolled in the Indian Air Force under Air Force Act 1950, for a
period of FOUR years. Agniveervayu (Sports) would form a distinct rank in the Indian Air Force,
different from any other existing ranks. The Indian Air Force is not obliged to retain Agniveervayu
(Sports) beyond the engagement period of four years.

20. On completion of four years of service, based on organisation’s requirements and policies
promulgated by the Indian Air Force, Agniveervayu (Sports) will be offered an opportunity to apply for
enrolment in the regular cadre of the Indian Air Force as Airmen. These applications will be considered
in a centralised manner based on objective criteria, including performance during their four-year
engagement period and up to 25% of each specific batch of Agniveervayu (Sports) will be enrolled in
regular cadre of IAF. Agniveervayu (Sports) will not have any right to be selected for further
enrolment into the Indian Air Force. Selection of the Agniveervayu (Sports) for further
enrolment, if any, shall be at the discretion of the Government of India.

21. Employability. Agniveervayu (Sports) enrolled under this entry are liable to be assigned any
duty in organisational interest at the discretion of the Indian Air Force.

22. Training. On being enrolled, Agniveervayu (Sports) will be imparted military training based
on Indian Air Force requirements.

23. Leave. Grant of leave will be subject to exigencies of the Indian Air Force. The following leave
is applicable for Agniveervayu (Sports) during their engagement period: -

(a) Annual Leave. 30 days per year.

(b) Sick Leave. Based on medical advice.

24. Medical and CSD Facilities. For the duration of their engagement period in the
Indian Air Force, Agniveervayu (Sports) will be entitled for medical facility at Service Hospitals as
well as CSD provisions.

25. Pay, Allowances and Allied Benefits. Agniveervayu (Sports) enrolled under this Scheme
will be paid an Agniveer (Sports) package of Rs. 30,000/- per month with a fixed yearly increment. In
addition, Risk and Hardship allowances (as applicable in IAF), Dress and Travel allowances will be
paid. Perks such as ration, clothing, accommodation and Leave Travel Concession (LTC) shall also
be provided as per the existing rules.

26. Terminal Benefits - Seva Nidhi Package. Agniveervayu (Sports) will be given one time
‘Seva Nidhi’ package comprising their monthly contribution along with matching contribution by the
Government on completion of their engagement period, as indicated below: -

Note 1: Agniveervayu (Sports) will not be required to contribute to any Provident Fund of
the Government.

Note 2: There shall be no entitlement to gratuity and any kind of pensionary benefits.

27. Insurance, Death and Disability Compensation. Agniveervayu (Sports) will be provided
non-contributory Life Insurance cover of Rs. 48 Lakhs for the duration of their engagement period as
Agniveervayu (Sports) in the Indian Air Force. Agniveervayu (Sports) will not be governed by
provisions contained in the Pension Regulations/Rules for Indian Air Force. For details of

28. ‘Agniveer Skill Certificate’. At the end of engagement period, a detailed Skill-Set certificate
will be provided to the Agniveervayu (Sports), highlighting the skills and level of competency acquired
by the personnel during their engagement period.

29. ‘Not Entitled to the ESM Status’. Personnel enrolled under this Scheme will not be eligible
for Ex-Servicemen status after their discharge from the Service on completion of four years
engagement period.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

31. Verification of Eligibility. Candidate should be in possession of the documents mentioned

at Para 18(b) to (k) and other required applicable original documents like Aadhaar Card, Discharge
Certificate (if discharged from Army/Navy/Government organisation), Consent Form (signed by
parents if candidate below 18 years of age) and passport size colour photographs shall be required
and scrutinised/verified at the Selection Trials venue prior to commencement of Physical Fitness Test
to ascertain the eligibility prima-facie. Detailed verification will be carried out later in respect of
candidates who pass Physical Fitness Test and subsequently Sports Specific Selection Trials.
Candidature of those who do not meet the laid down Educational criteria shall be rejected during
Initial verification of original certificates & mark sheets prior to conduct of Physical Fitness Test,
during detailed verification on clearing the Physical Fitness Test, Sports Specific Selection Trials,
during any stage of selection and even after enrolment.

Note: The original Passing Certificates / Marks Sheets etc will not be retained by the Selection
Centre. The same will be returned to the candidates on completion of detailed verification.

32. Selection Trials shall be conducted in the following phases:

(a) Physical Fitness Test (PFT). PFT consists of 1.6 Km run which to be completed
within seven minutes. Candidates shall also have to complete 10 Push-ups, 10 Sit-ups and
20 Squats within the stipulated time as per the following to qualify in the Physical Fitness Test.

Note: Candidates are advised to bring their sports shoes and shorts/track pants.

(b) Sports Skill Trials

(i) Only PFT pass candidates would be called for sports skill trials.
(ii) Sports Skill trials will be conducted for the Sports applied at venues decided by
AFSCB in Delhi-NCR.

33. Medical Examination. Recommended Candidates after selection trials will undergo Medical
Examination. Medical Examination shall be conducted by Air Force Medical Team as per IAF medical

34. Candidates declared Medically Unfit can avail the option for Appeal Medical Board (AMB)
against their Unfitness by depositing Rs. 40/- in a Government Treasury/RBI/SBI through Military
Receivable Order (MRO). The application for AMB along with original copy of MRO, photocopy of
Unfitness Certificate are to be submitted to the representative of 2 ASC, AF within three working
days of Medical examination.

35. Those candidates who are declared medically fit by the medical board would be in the
provisionally selected list of Candidates. On finalisation from the provisionally selected list of
Candidates, the finally selected Candidates would be enrolled in IAF in as Agniveervayu (Sports).

Note: Candidates are advised to get tartar & stains removed from their teeth before
appearing for the medical examination. Ears should be free of wax. Candidates should
be prepared to travel / stay for the medical test for four to five days under their own
arrangement. No TA/DA shall be admissible.

HOW TO APPLY

36. Mandatory Instructions for Candidates:-

(a) Candidates are to take the print of the Application Form, Consent / Undertaking Form
available at the end of this Advertisement. The duly filled Application Form and Consent /
Undertaking Form are to be scanned along with all Educational and Sports Certificates as per
Advertisement and are to be submitted to the official E-mail id of Air Force Sports Control Board
(bluesports.rec@iaf.nic.in) from their personal E-mail ids.
(b) Candidates are also to Register their candidature on the Online registration portal
available on C-DAC Web Site at https://agnipathvayu.cdac.in/casbspm following the

37. Filling of Application Form:-

(a) A printout of the application form is to be taken on A4 size paper only as per the prescribed
format given at the end of the advertisement. Non-standard application forms will be
rejected.
(b) The application form completed in all respects (signature, left hand thumb impression,
affixing photograph as mentioned in Para 18 of the advertisement) along with Educational
and Sports Achievement documents are to be scanned and attached as one single PDF
file which is to be sent on the official E-mail ID – bluesports.rec@iaf.nic.in as one single
mail only (maximum size of PDF file should not exceed 20MB).
(c) Repetition of mail from individual’s E-mail ID or re-submission of same documents through
different E-mail ID’s is liable to be rejected.
(d) The candidates called to appear in the selection trials are to bring all the documents

for submission of application forms and End date/time as last date of Receipt of Application Forms

GENERAL
39. General Instructions for candidates are as follows:-
(a) The candidates should carry his AADHAAR Card as proof of identity whenever they report
for the Selection Test and Medical Test. Candidates from J&K, Assam and Meghalaya who are
fulfilling the domicile requirement and eligible to appear in recruitment trials, are to carry any
other valid ID Proof.

arrangement. No TA/DA shall be admissible.

(c) Candidates are required to provide an active E-mail ID and mobile No. which will be used
by AFSCB for all communications till culmination of the entire selection process and enrolment
for the particular intake. It is also advised to preserve E-mail ID and password for all future
communications.

40. COVID-19 INSTRUCTIONS FOR CANDIDATES APPEARING FOR SELECTION TEST

(a) Given the risk of COVID-19, candidates are advised to follow all instructions / guidelines
issued by Central/State Governments from time to time.

(b) At the entrance any candidate showing symptoms of Influenza Like Illness (ILI), will not be
allowed for the test considering the safety of other persons

41. If there is any variation between English & Hindi/any other regional language versions of the
