PROGRAM OPTIONS WHY THE TELFER MBA

Professional MBA: Adapted to the realities of working
professionals, this two-year program allows you to directly apply
the knowledge acquired in the Telfer MBA to your professional role
while maintaining and accelerating your career, while studying in
French or in English.
Hands-on Learning Opportunities: We will give you the practical
experience employers value by having you work alongside some of
Canada’s most notable organizations on real management
challenges through a capstone project, paid internships, real-life
cases and competitions, as well as international trips.

Concentrations: In our English professional MBA, you can
customize your degree to gain the skills and expertise employers
are looking for in our four concentrations which include Digital
Transformation & Analytics (DT&A), Finance, Management
Consulting, and Sustainable Management. You could alternatively
choose to complete the professional MBA in French with the
Management Consulting concentration.
Optional Internship: Put your knowledge and skills into practice
right away with the optional internship (6 units) which can be
pursued over one or two terms.
French and English Study Options: As the largest English-French
bilingual university in the world, the University of Ottawa offers both
a French and English MBA program. Subject to availability, you can
choose to take your elective classes in one or both languages to
enhance your proficiency and increase your international

ADMISSION CRITERIA
Work Experience: A minimum of three years of full-time
managerial or professional work experience is required. Part-time
positions, summer jobs, and co-op placements do not count
toward this experience, but they are considered favourably during
your file evaluation. Preference is given to those who have greater
work experience, particularly when there is evidence of
management responsibilities and a net career progression.
Academic Qualifications: A Canadian baccalaureate degree, or
equivalent, with a minimum admission average of B (70%) is
required. The admission average is calculated in accordance with
the Graduate Studies guidelines (the last 60 units for Canadian and
American transcripts, or the last 20 courses for foreign
transcripts). All post-secondary studies are considered at the time
of admission, with the most recent studies considered first.
Admission Test Waiver: If you have completed your BCom, PhD,
CPA, JD or MD degree at the University of Ottawa or other
Canadian universities with an average of 75% (B+) or above
(calculated using the last 60 units) at the time of your application,
you will not be required to write either the GMAT (Graduate
Management Admission Test) or the GRE (Graduate Record
Examination).
If you have completed any other undergraduate degree at the
University of Ottawa or other Canadian universities with an average
of 80% (A-) or above (calculated using the last 60 units) at the time
of your application, you will not be required to write either the
GMAT or the GRE.
All other applicants must achieve a competitive score on either the
GMAT or GRE, or TCT (Telfer Competency Test) or TAGE MAGE to
apply to our MBA program in French.
Language Proficiency: Candidates whose mother tongue is neither
English nor French are required to provide evidence of proficiency
in one of these languages. For more information on the accepted

Personal Interview: Applicants may be contacted for an interview
with one of the admissions members. The interview explores the
student’s background in a team-based working environment, their
objectives for pursuing an MBA, and their ability to communicate
effectively.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Complete the OUAC online application form.
Pay the application fee (non-refundable).
Upload the required documents via the student portal once you
receive your uoZone access (by email 3-5 days following online
application and submission of fees).
Prepare these required documents for your application:
Curriculum Vitae (Resume): Outline your managerial and
professional experience, as well as any pertinent volunteer
work.
Letter of intent: State your reasons for pursuing a graduate
program, as well as your contribution to the program given your
background and experience. The letter should be at least 500
words.
 Admission Test Scores: To speed up the evaluation process,
please upload a copy of your GMAT, GRE, or TAGE MAGE
report. At your testing centre, request that official GMAT, GRE,
or TAGE MAGE test results be available electronically to the
Telfer Graduate Office.
Transcripts: Please upload one transcript from each
postsecondary institution that you attended. Transcripts from
the University of Ottawa will be requested by our office. Official
transcripts are required only in the event of an admission offer.
Official Language Proficiency Test Scores: Test scores from
one of the following tests need to be submitted if applicable:
TOEFL, IELTS, other. To be valid, the test score must be less
than two years old at the time of application. To speed up the
evaluation process, please upload a copy of your language test
report. Ask an officer from ETS (TOEFL) or IELTS to make the
results available electronically to the Telfer Graduate Office.
Add referees: Add the contact information of two professional
referees in the Admission Portal checklist (uoZone). Your referees
will receive an email from the University of Ottawa with a link to a
recommendation form to be submitted virtually.

International students - $68,000

SCHOLARSHIPS
The Telfer School of Management has several admission
scholarships available. Eligibility criteria and amounts vary
(between $1,000 and $6,000).
