Language Report Comments

XXXX is excelling in reading and writing. He/She reads a range of books with excellent
fluency and comprehension. XXXX is open-minded and resourceful in his/her approach
to writing. He/She uses teacher feedback and classroom resources to improve and edit
his/her work. These strategies have enabled him/her to significantly improve in various
writing tasks. XXXX writes best when reflecting on his/her own experiences, and
his/her work is always a pleasure to read. He/She takes pride in producing quality work
and appreciates feedback from his/her peers and teachers. XXXX produced an
exceptional persuasive letter about XXXX which revealed clear evidence of being
carefully composed, proofed and edited. We are currently working on developing
XXXX’s expression when reading aloud. As his/her confidence grows, so should
his/her presentation skills.

XXXX is a creative writer and is receptive to teacher feedback. One of XXXX’s goals
this semester has been to take the time to self-correct his/her work as he/she has a
tendency to rush. This will help improve the neatness and layout of his/her bookwork in
order to make it more legible. When reading, XXXX regularly makes insightful
inferences of the plot and offers a different perspective on the motivations of the
characters. He/She enjoys reading aloud with the class and reads clearly, sometimes
adjusting voice and pace as required by the plot. XXXX’s confidence presenting in front
of his/her peers has greatly improved this semester. He/She is beginning to slow down

XXXX’s oral English has improved significantly this year and he/she has enjoyed

completed to an impressive standard, demonstrating independence and creativity.

letter writing and comprehension text responses XXXX completed demonstrated a
competent knowledge and application of language techniques and conventions.
He/She worked hard to thoroughly proofread and edit his/her pieces in order to submit
work that reflects his/her best effort. XXXX was successful in his/her spelling, grammar
and punctuation tasks and can usually transfer his/her knowledge of these rules into
his/her daily written work.

XXXX has continued to put an outstanding amount of effort into English this semester.
He/She is starting to construct simple narratives, recounts and persuasive writing
pieces. XXXX’s writing shows improved structure and progression of ideas, although
he/she often makes errors with his/her grammar, mixing up verb tenses. An ongoing
goal for XXXX is to work on building his/her vocabulary, which can be done by
increasing the amount of reading that he/she does. XXXX’s reading has improved,
along with his/her comprehension skills. He/She has shown great effort in reading this
semester and is able to use a combination of knowledge and skills to read a range of
books. He/She is able to use a range of monitoring and self-correcting methods when
reading. XXXX finds it challenging to express his/her thoughts during group
discussions but has gained in confidence this semester. An ongoing goal for XXXX is
to look at the audience and speak clearly when presenting. XXXX uses simple

sentences when expressing his/her thoughts and ideas. Next semester, we will

XXXX is a risk-taker. Although English is a relatively new language for him/her, he/she

Maths Report Comments

XXXX is working above grade expectations in all Mathematics strands. XXXX’s work
ethic during Mathematics has been both diligent and methodical, completing all tasks
to the best of his/her ability and to a high standard. He/She works independently and
productively, using excellent self-management skills. I have been pleased with the
academic gains he/she has been making this semester. The next step for XXXX is to
apply his/her mathematical knowledge to solve more complex problems. XXXX is a
risk-taker in Mathematics. He/She is consistently willing to tackle new challenges and
attempt tasks that are new and unfamiliar to him/her. XXXX has enjoyed undertaking
extension activities in Mathematics this semester, often working with a like-minded
peer to enthusiastically complete challenging tasks.

XXXX ​has worked consistently well in Mathematics this semester, demonstrating a


high level of understanding. He/She is generally well prepared for lessons and listens
carefully, both to the instructions provided and to class discussions. A goal for XXXX in

concepts at a quicker rate. ​As his/her English skills improve, so should his/her ability to
express his/her understanding of Mathematical concepts. At times, XXXX appears to
be having difficulties with his/her work but does not always choose to seek assistance
from the teacher. This will be an important step for his/her to develop. I would
encourage him/her to raise questions during class time. XXXX enjoyed working
collaboratively with his/her friends to collect data and presented it in a graph. He/She
needed assistance in analysing the data and deciding on how different graphs are
useful for different situations.

XXXX is growing in confidence with all of his/her Math skills and is taking more time to
solve questions carefully. His/Her knowledge of basic facts is more accurate. He/She
now needs to increase his/her speed so that they become more automatic. XXXX
always listens attentively and attempts to do his/her work independently. A stronger
foundation in the automatic recall of multiplication facts would be beneficial for future
learning in this area. Continued revision of basic math facts and strategies to solve
multiple step problems is advised. As XXXX’s English skills improve, so should his/her

ask for help when needed and I would encourage his/her to continue this habit for next
