Introduction
As a business analyst, I have selected to evaluate the present business model of
Mothercare, a well-known organisation specialising in delivering products and benefits
for mothers and babies (Taylor, 2020). Mothercare has been in process for over 60
years and has a presence in over 50 countries, offering a wide range of products,
including baby clothing, nursery furniture, and maternity wear. In my evaluation, I will
look closely at the company's operations, products, and services, target market,
marketing strategies, and overall financial performance (Roger, 2017). I will also
consider the company's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT
analysis) to understand the organisation's current state. Similarly, I will examine the
company's customer service policies and practices and its partnerships with other.
Organizations that focus on maternal and child health and welfare(Pereira & Levinton,
2020). Mothercare has a strong reputation for its corporate social responsibility
initiatives, and I will also be evaluating the effectiveness of these initiatives and their
impact on the brand's image (Osterwalder et al., 2018). My goal is to comprehensively
evaluate Mothercare's existing business model, highlighting areas for improvement and
recommending how the company can continue to grow and remain a leading player in
the industry.

Business Model Canvas Components

As a business analyst, I have selected to estimate the existing business model of

Mothercare, a well-prominent organisation that specialises in providing products and
services for mothers and babies (Mulyana et al., 2018). In this report, I will research
separate elements of the Business Model Canvas in detail to understand how
Mothercare operates and provides value to its customers.

a. Value Proposition: Mothercare's value offer is to deliver increased -quality, stylish,

and reasonable products for families with young children, as well as support and
suggestion for new and expectant mothers (Kadir, 2020). The company offers a wide
range of products, including baby clothing, nursery furniture, and maternity wear, all
under one roof.

b. Key Partners: Mothercare has established partnerships with various organisations

focusing on maternal and child health and welfare (Jing, 2022). These partnerships help
the company provide better services and support to its customers and expand its reach.

c. Key Activities: Mothercare's key activities include product design and development,
sourcing, marketing, and retail operations. The company provides support and advice
for new and expectant mothers through its partnerships and customer service policies.

d. Key Resources: Mothercare's essential resources include its brand image and retail
stores. Its product and service offerings and its knowledgeable and experienced
employees (Hermawan, 2020). The company's research and development investments
and partnerships with organisations focusing on maternal and child health and welfare
are also necessary resources.

e. Customer Relationships: Mothercare has a strong reputation for its customer

service policies and practices. The company's commitment to providing support and
advice for new and expectant mothers has helped found a loyal customer base, making
it a trusted and loved brand by millions of mothers worldwide.

f. Distribution Channels: Mothercare's products and services are primarily sold

through its retail stores (Amelia, 2022). The company also has an online store that
allows customers to purchase products from the comfort of their own homes.

g. Customer Segments: Mothercare's target market consists of families with young

children and expectant mothers. The company has a wide range of products that cater
to the needs of this market, making it a one-stop shop for all their needs.

h. Cost Structure: Mothercare's cost structure primarily comprises the costs of product
design and development, sourcing, marketing, and retail operations (Taylor, 2020). The
company's research and development investments and partnerships with organisations
focusing on maternal and child health and welfare contribute to its cost structure.

i. Revenue Stream: Mothercare's primary revenue stream is from selling its products
and services through its retail stores and online store. The company also generates
revenue from partnering with organisations focusing on maternal and child health and
welfare.

In conclusion, Mothercare's existing business model is well established and delivers

value to its customers by offering a wide range of products, providing support and
advice for new and expectant mothers, and having a solid commitment to customer
service (Roger, 2017). The company has established partnerships, a strong brand
image, and a loyal customer base that contribute to its success. However, there is
always room for improvement, and the company should continue to evaluate its
business model and make adjustments where necessary to remain a leading player in
the industry.
SWOT Analysis

As a business analyst, I have conducted a SWOT analysis of Mothercare, a well-known

organization that delivers products and services for mothers and babies. This analysis
aims to identify the company's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to get
a comprehensive understanding of the organisation's current state.

Strengths: Mothercare's strengths include its well-established brand image,

commitment to customer service, and wide range of products and services. The
company has a loyal customer base and a reputation for providing support and advice
for new and expectant mothers (Osterwalder et al., 2018). The company's partnerships
with organizations focusing on maternal and child health and welfare also contribute to
its strengths.

Weaknesses: One of the weaknesses of Mothercare is that it operates in a highly

competitive industry, and it may face challenges from other companies offering similar
products and services. Another weakness is that the company may depend on its retail
stores, which changes in consumer shopping habits could impact.

Opportunities: Mothercare has several opportunities to grow and expand its business,
such as expanding its online presence and reaching new customer segments
(Osterwalder et al., 2018). The company could also explore new partnerships and
collaborations to improve further its services and support for new and expectant
mothers.

Threats: The company faces several threats, including changes in consumer behaviour
and competition from other companies. Economic uncertainty and changes in
government regulations could also impact the company's operations.
In conclusion, the SWOT analysis of Mothercare has highlighted the organisation's
strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The company has a well-established
brand image and a commitment to customer service, which are essential strengths.
However, it also faces challenges from competition and changes in consumer
behaviour, which are potential threats (Hermawan, 2020). The company has
opportunities to grow and extend its business, such as boosting its online presence and
exploring new partnerships. To remain a leading player in the industry, Mothercare
should continue to evaluate its strengths and weaknesses and take advantage of its
opportunities.
Conclusion
In ending, as an industry analyst, my analysis of Mothercare has indicated that the
company has a well-established brand image and a commitment to customer service,
which are key strengths. However, it also faces challenges from competition and
changes in consumer manners, which are probable dangers. The company has
opportunities to grow and expand its business, such as expanding its online presence
and exploring new partnerships. To stay a maximum player in the industry, Mothercare
should continue to evaluate its strengths and weaknesses and take advantage of its
opportunities. The results of this SWOT analysis furnish helpful insights into the
organization's current state and can be used to guide future decision-making and
strategic planning. Overall, Mothercare has the prospect of continuing to be a
successful and innovative organization, delivering support and services for mothers and
babies for many years to come.
