Abstract
Cybersecurity analysts protect company hardware, software, and networks against threat actors,
the IT/network infrastructure of the company they work for and the current technology in the
world. Linux operating systems, the SQL (Structured Query Language) language, and SIEM
(Security and Information Event Management) tools are necessities in cybersecurity. The most
important skill for people entering the cybersecurity field is communication. Working with a
team and sharing findings with stakeholders will allow for endless growth. Careers in technology
are becoming essential; there are around 170 cybersecurity analyst job openings and 88,800
people employed in security-related jobs in Minnesota. The median wage for a cybersecurity
analyst is $95,000 annually, and the space is projected to grow 32% by 2032. These statistics
show that as technology becomes a significant part of our lives, so does security.
