Key threats to data security risks

 Malware
 Phishing
 Accidentally losing the data
 Physical damage to fragile equipment
 Pretexting
 Software supply chain attacks
 Man-in-the-middle attack
 Unauthorized access by third-party vendors.

For us to solve the stated above issues we can use the following
 Backing up data
 Using up-to-date antiviruses
 Encrypt Sensitive Data
 Update Equipment
 Using strong passwords
 Keep Your Systems and Software Updated
 Installing firewalls
 Having a kill-switch in place

Title: Propositions to improve the data security at school
Date: 13 July 2023

After a careful look at the current computer`s school lab`s security, l managed to find some vulnerabilities
which are present. L have managed to try and retail the data security risks them as follows including ways to
try and curb them.
First of all, the most common means of data security risks which our school is facing is due to malware,
mischievous files and viruses. These “malware” enter into school computers by means of school
children/students inserting flashes and USB sticks into the computers attempting to place games and
other folders inside. In this action the malware enters and cause damage to the already present files and
data.
In order for this problem to be resolved, the computers at school should be equipped with good active
antiviruses which do not permit the entry of this malware. Another way to curb this issue is to disallow
students from entering with USB flash sticks and playing games and movies in the school lab using these
computers

Second threat that we are facing as a school pertaining the data security is due to physical impact. Gadgets
like Hard disk Drives are very sensitive to physical impact hence when they fall down they are easily
damaged and hence data is lost in that manner.
In order for this problem to be addressed it is need for students and even the computer science teacher to
practice handling gadgets safely. Another way to curb this is to upgrade the current data storage form to
cloud storing or Solid State Drive (SSD). This although could be a bit costly.
The last but not least, the school`s data could be at threat due to hackers which would be keen to want to
have their data. This is a very serious means of data security threat which has to be taken to notice.
Luckily they is a solution to this, using firewalls, strong passwords and surfing the internet safely with VPNs
could help you avoid encountering these hackers. This is not really of an expensive step for the school.
I hope you have been enlightened to the threats that we could be facing as a school
