PASSENGER BOARDING BRIDGES (PBBs)
FP-TEK offers a full range of Passenger Boarding Bridges, including fully
glazed Apron Drive Bridges, Nose Loader Bridges, T-Bridges and Commuter
Bridges as well as special Bridges for A380 Upper Deck connection.
Products meet the requirements of ISO 9001 and 140001 where applicable.
All Passenger Boarding Bridges are designed and tested in accordance with
the latest European Standards and are CE-marked in accordance
with the Machinery Directive.
Considerations are always taken to meet architectural requirements.
A variety of wall cladding material can be selected by the customer.
FP-TEK PBBs are as standard equipped with an intelligent PLC based
Control System, which allows for automatic or semi-automatic pre-setting
and connection to aircraft. Software can be configured so that movement
of a particular PBBs is restricted, for safety or for other reasons. Log-files
are automatically stored to enable efficient and easy fault finding and
system error analysis.
The Control System allows for operational safety interfaces with computer
based Visual Docking Guidance Systems (VDGS) and/or any other gate
equipment, such as Ground Power Systems and Pre-Conditioned Air Systems.
The Apron Drive Bridge has a unique design of the Cabin with floor always
remaining horizontal independent of the PBB elevation.
AV I AT I O N
Many years of experience from design, manufacturing and installation of high quality Passenger
Boarding Bridges in combination with the extensive manufacturing capability and capacity of
LO Group ensure that customer’s needs and requirements are complied with in the safest and most
cost effective way.
The most important hallmarks of FP-TEK designed Passenger Boarding Bridges are high quality,
uncomplicated installation, easy operation and low maintenance cost.
SAFETY
Multiple sensors detect the position of the PBB relative to the aircraft to
prevent uncontrolled movement of the PBB. Safety interlocks can be activated
to ensure that all coordination required for safe operation is correct before
operating the PBB.
Automatic Cabin alignment ensures that the bumper edge always is kept
parallel to the stand centre-line, or kept at a predetermined angle to fit
to the shape of the aircraft fuselage.
An Auto Levelling device ensures that the PBB is safely kept at the correct
height relative to the sill of the aircraft. A Safety Shoe prevents the aircraft
door to be damaged when the PBB is connected.
Software can be configured so that the PBB cannot be moved in restricted
or unsafe areas. For safety reasons such software settings can be done so
that it cannot be surpassed by a PBB operator.
Surveillance camera is as standard installed at the Rotunda underneath the
PBB for surveillance and monitoring of the PBB Drive Unit and surrounding
areas.
HYDRAULICS
PBB Lift and Drive Systems are hydraulic to ensure smooth and safe operation
under all operational conditions. The control characteristics of hydraulic
systems are superior in comparison with electro-mechanical systems.
The hydraulic system enables simple and safe emergency retraction of the
PBBs at total loss of mains power using the hydraulic power accumulated in
lift cylinders to retract the PBB. Only a PBB using both hydraulic Lift and
Drive System makes such emergency retraction possible.
Bridges designed by FP-TEK are designed for continuous and safe operation
in the harsh Finnish climate.
