Special crime investigation refers the special study of modern techniques in the
investigation of serious and specific crimes, it focuses on specific crimes which by their
nature are difficult and complex to investigate.
2. What is investigation?
Investigation is a process of examining of crime to discover the facts and the truth.
3. What are the purposes of investigation in terms of:
3.1. Documentation
The purpose of investigation in terms of documentation is that the investigator
on case have the summary of the known facts recorded which it contains the 6
cardinal points of investigation, the 5 W's and 1H.
3.2. Identification
The purpose of investigation in terms of identification is to identify the person
involved in the crime, who are the person that are allegedly present on the time
of the commission of the crime.
3.3. Decision Making
The purpose of investigation on decision making is to prevent the unconscious
bias that may affect the investigator that could mislead to the wrong person.
4. What are the qualities for an investigator?
The qualities of an investigator are;
 A good investigator have a curiosity which involves asking question to discover
the reasons why a particular event occurred.
 A good investigator have a quality of being a problem solver which it connects
the little pieces obtained at a scene, they connect pieces that will lead to the
apprehension of the suspect.
 A good investigator have a good observation qualities which it often to gather
important detail to their surroundings.
 A good investigator have a good critical thinking qualities which it avoid
assumption that can hinder to the factual conclusions.
