LESSON PLAN TEYL

A lesson plan for young learners that integrates all the language skills:

Level: Elementary

Language focus: Vocabulary about the functions of body parts, grammar about "what is it?" and
"what is the function?"

Time: 60 minutes

Materials:
- Pictures of different types of body parts (1 set of flashcards)
- Vocabulary cards with nouns describing functions (e.g. to walk, to bite, to see, to listen, etc.) (1
set of flashcards)
- Flashcards with "what is it?" and "what is the functions?" written on them (1 set of flashcards)
- A worksheet with a chart for students to record their functions preferences
- A short story about part of body.

Stage 1: Warm-up (10 minutes)


- Introduce the topic of body parts with showing the pictures of different types of body parts.
- Ask students to brainstorm different words they know to describe the functions. Write these
words on the board.
- Explain that in this lesson, they will learn more nouns to describe the part of body.

Stage 2: Vocabulary Focus (10 minutes)


- Give students a set of vocabulary cards with nouns describing the part of body and their
functions.
- Ask students to match the nouns to their definitions.
- Once they have completed the matching task, elicit and discuss examples of different body
parts that could be described with each noun.
- Students complete worksheet about vocabulary.
Stage 3: Grammar Focus (10 minutes)
- Introduce the phrases "what is it?" and "what is the functions?" and explain their meanings.
- Use flashcards in pair, one students get the clue and another students guess the functions/ the
nouns.
- Students complete worksheet about grammar

Stage 4: Listening and Speaking (15 minutes)


- Ask students to listen and follow what teacher says with showing the flashcard.
- After listening, ask students to practice the conversation again, this time using the nouns they
have learned to describe the body parts.
- Do it repeatedly so that students can understand and remember what has been heard and
conveyed.

Stage 5: Reading and Writing (15 minutes)


- Give students a worksheet with words that have been randomly arranged.
- Ask students to arrange the jumbled words into perfect words and match them with the
appropriate pictures.
- Guide students to read perfect words with good pronunciation.

Stage 6: Review and Conclusion (5 minutes)


- Review the vocabulary and nouns learned in the lesson, as well as the phrases "what is it?" and
"What is the functions?"
- Ask students to reflect on what they have learned about describing the body parts and their
functions.
- Assign homework to practice using the vocabulary and phrases to describe parts of body and
the function of them.

This lesson plan integrates vocabulary practice, grammar practice, listening practice, reading
practice, writing practice, and speaking practice, providing young learners with a variety of
activities and tasks to develop their language skills in a fun and engaging way. The use of
visuals, audio recordings, and group work encourages active participation and communication,
while the simple language and clear instructions cater to the needs of young learners.
