Beate Mom, Sebo 1 ctadio cazcis LONDON 11 13 16 18 21 24 26 30 33 THE ZOO BALL is a suite of twelve light-hearted pieces designed for the young wind or brass band, tcan be seen from the titles that the young playeris introduced to a variety of dance rhythms in tunes that are both fun to play and enjoyable to listen to tis scored in five parts (some of which divide in places) so.can be played by ensembles of around 10 players up to full band. When a fuller instrumentation is available teachers and conductors are encouraged to vary therscoring as appropriate, particularly in repeated sections. This will allow players to rest occasionally and add changes of colour to the band sound by avoiding excessive doubling. The total playing time is around 16 minutes. ‘The five parts are available in the following transpositions: Part Cupper octave Flute inc Oboe in Bb 1st Clarinet, tst Cornet in Eb Soprano Cornet, Eb Clarinet Part 2 in Bb 2nd Clarinet, 2nd Cornet, Fluge! Horn Parts 1 and 2 are the soprano parts..Part 1 should ‘outweigh’ part 2 in sound, if not in ‘Aumbers, asitis often divided. Comets end clarinets should be divided accordingly between. the parts. Part 3 in Bb 3rd Clarinet inEb Alto Saxophone, Tenor Horn in Horn Part 3is the alto part. Itis occasionally scored as an individual part but frequently doubles parts 2 or 4, Part 4 in (BC) ~+1st Bassoon, 1st Trombone in Bb (T.C) Tenor Saxophone, Baritone, Euphonium Part 4 is the tenor part. Part 5 in C (B.C) 2nd Bassoon, 2nd Trombone, Tuba in Eb (TC) Baritone Saxophone, E> Bass — in Bb (T.C) Euphonium, Bb Bass. Part 5 is the bass part and frequently doubles part 4 either in unison or at the octave. Percussion Drum Kit, Timpani. The percussion part is designed for one player. However, there is plenty of scope for some improvisational playing if more percussionists are available, particularly in those pieces with a Latin American flavour. Percussion, however, is not essential to any of the pieces. SUPPLEMENTARY PARTS n addition to the above, parts 4 and § are available in the following transpositions which are in line with common practice in some European countries: Poté in b (B.C) Euphonium CE.
