Types of Cooperative:

1. Credit Cooperative
- Shall refer to one that promotes and undertakes savings and
lending services among its members.

- It generates a common pool of funds in order to provide financial


assistance and other related financial services to its members for
productive and provident purposes.

- Savings and Lending Services; Pero dapat member ka

2. Financial Service Cooperative (FSC)


- Organized for the primary purpose of engaging in saving and credit
services and other financial services regulated by the BSP
- Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas
- Kahit sino outsiders pwede; di lang members
- As long as nakacomply sa yung outsiders sa requirements
- Minimum paiid-up share capital is Ten Million Pesos (10,000,000)

- Cooperatives walang non-profit; they are always for profit

3. Consumers Cooperative
- Primary Purpose is to procure and distribute commodities to members
and non-members
- Product is not strictly their own; They Resell

4. Producers Cooperative
- Is one that undertakes joint production whether agricultural
or industrial.
- They produce their own products.
- Processing of raw materials or goods produced into finished
- or processed products for sale to its members and non-members.

5. Marketing Cooperative
- One which engages in the supply of production inputs to members
and market their products.
- Binebenta yung expertise and wellness ng mga members.
- You promote someone else's products.

6. Service Cooperative (Generic)


- Intangible
- What you sell is services kaya siya intangible; not physical product
- One which engages in medical and dental care, hospitalization,
transporatition, insurance, housing, labor, electric light, and power,
communication, professional and other services.

7. Advocacy Cooperative
- Promotes and Advocates Cooperativism among its members and the public
through socially-oriented projects, education and training, research
and communication, and other similar activities to reach out its
intended activities.
- Inspirational and Motivational Seminars; Lifecoaching Seminars.

8. Agrarian Reform Cooperative


- Organized by marginal farmers, majority of which are agrarian reform
beneficiaries for the purpose of developing an appropriate system of
land tenure, land development, land consolidation, or land management
in areas covered by agrarian reform.
- Magkaiba ang Agrarian Reform Cooperative sa Farmers Cooperative.
- Agrarian Reform Cooperative is exclusive only to those affiliated
with CARP [Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program].
- Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Law [CARL]
- 15 hectares of land, yung 5 lang pwede iretain; yung 10 hectares
kukunin ng gov at ilalagay sa CARP
- Yung 10 hectares ang ilalagay sa CARP under distribution to
eligible farmers.
- Yung mga beneficiaries ng CARP maaring magtayo ng cooperative
and eto yon.
- Ordinary Farmers na di beneficiary ng CARP ay di dito, doon sila sa
Farmers Cooperative.

- You cannot purchase more than 5 hectares now in PH

Cooperative:
5 Hectares x Members of Cooperative

Corporation:
Only 5 Hectares as it is a juridical entity

- You can sell your land to CARP voluntarily kahit below 5 Hectares.
- You can also sell it to private entities.

9. Cooperative Bank
- Organized for the primary purpose of providing a wide range of
financial services to cooperatives and their members.
- P10,000,000 is the minimum paid-up capital
- Cooperatives can create Banks
- ***To cooperatives and their members***
Ordered by Restriction:
- FSC kahit sino (individuals, entities etc)
- Cooperative Banks ay for fellow cooperatives and members only
- Credit Cooperative exclusive lang sa members ng cooperative

10. Dairy Cooperative


- Members are engaged in the production of fresh milk which may be
processed and/or marketed as dairy products.

11. Education Cooperative


- Eskuwelahan di pwedeng Partnership, Corporation and Cooperative lang
- Bawal Educational Cooperative magoffer ng full degree courses
like BSA, BS Nursing, BS Engineering. Technical-Vocational Courses
only.
- Hilot, Driving, Cooking etc.

12. Electric Cooperative


- Is one organized for the primary purpose of undertaking power
generations, utilizing renewable energy sources, including hybrid
systems, acquisition and operation of sub-transmission or distribution
to its household members.
- Usually province ang meron nito, Manila wala Meralco lang.
- Meralco is not a cooperative.

13. Fisherman Cooperative


- Is one organized by marginalized fishermen in localities whose
products are marketed either as fresh or processed products.

15. Housing Cooperative


- Provide access to housing for the benefit of its regular members
who actively participate in the savings program for housing.
- It is co-owned and controlled by its members.
- Endgoal is to provide for housing projects that will cater to the
needs of each of its members.

16. Insurance Cooperative


- Is one engaged in the business of insuring life and property of
cooperatives and their members.
- Law restricts that your clients should be cooperatives and their
members.
- Kung di ka member ng cooperative wag ka dito, sa Insurance Corp ka.

17. Transport Cooperative


- Includes land and sea transportation, limited to small vessels,
as defined or classified under the philippine maritime laws, organized
under the provisions of this Code.

18. Water Service Cooperative


- Malalayong lugar sa probinsya
- Provision and distribution of potable water for its members and
their households.

19. Workers Cooperative


- One organized by workers, including the self-employed, who are at
the same time the members and owners of the enterprise.
- Its principal purpose is to provide employment and business
opportunities to its members and manage it in accordance with
cooperative principles [self-help principles].
- If you are already employed, di mo na kailangan ng employment ng
workers cooperative; or you can avail the benefits of workers
cooperative to create a business.
- The line of work of the members does not matter.
- Common bond dapat [provide a job, or help to start a business]

20. Multipurpose Cooperative


- Shall refer to a cooperative, which combines (2) or more of the
business activities of the different types of cooperatives as
enumerated uner the law.
- The minimum paid-up share capital is One Hundred Thousand Pesos
P100,000
- 5 years as existing and operating,if can comply to requiements and
have no violations; You can add another purpose and convert a
Cooperative into multipurpose Cooperative.

Minimum Paid up Capital for all other types of Cooperative is P15,000


Minimum Subscriped Capital is P60,000
Authorized Share Capital P240,000

Categories of Cooperative According to Membership:


- Primary: Members are Natural/Juridical Persons
- Secondary: Members are Primary Cooperatives
- Tertiary: Members are Secondary Cooperatives
No member of a cooperative shall own or hold more than 10% of the subscribed
share capital of the cooperative.

If ABC Cooperative has a total Subscribed share capital of 800,000


a member can only have upto 80,000
