SECOND TERM| LESSON 4: JESUS CALLS HIS DISCIPLES TO FOLLOW HIS WAY OF LOVE AND SERVICE

Objectives:
Doctrine: Explain what it means to be a disciple of Jesus.
Morals: Follow Jesus’ way of loving his friends by living out the value of service and sacrifice for others.
Worship: Celebrate Christ’s loving presence in us through our prayers and frequent reception of the Holy Eucharist.

MARK 8:34-35
34 He called the crowd with his disciples, and said to them, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take
up their cross and follow me. 35 For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake, and for
the sake of the gospel, will save it.

MATTHEW 28:19-20
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you”

As Jesus young disciples we should follow Jesus’ command and that is to spread the Good News of Jesus with the goal of making
disciples of all nations. However, we do not need to just rely on ourselves while spreading the Gospel of course we need the help of
the Holy Spirit who dwells within us. The Spirit is the One who inspires the hearts of the faithful/believers of Jesus to preach the Word
of God. The Holy Spirit touches both the proclaimers and the hearers of the word. It does not mean that spreading the Word of God
you will just say it orally, you can also write it with the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit just like the authors of the Bible.

Why be a disciple?
It’s a mission entrusted to us by Jesus.
It helps us understand the true meaning of the daily happenings in our lives .
It helps in our moral behavior.
It brings us closer to Jesus.

Even in your being young you can make something that is pleasing to Jesus like being a
good boy or girl. Jesus wants us to share His mission to spread the Good News to all by
our good examples and willingness to offer our time, talents and all to Jesus.

We learned that as a young Disciples of Christ we are all called to true discipleship, love and service to others because through that
we are following Christ way of love and service to all. We are to praise and thank Jesus as our Lord and brother.

You are to be like little newscasters in the world spreading not the bad news but the Good News of Jesus to all.
