Dear CPSS Alumni

ANNOUNCING THE CPSS ALUMNI DAY PROGRAMME

I bring you good tidings from your alma mater. As we are all aware, Alumni body has become an
important body all over the world with particular references to the smooth running, sustenance,
growth and development of the institution that produced its members.

In other words, the trend in the global world is 'give back’ from the alumni. It is needless to
emphasize here that CPSS which was established in 2018 needs you more than before to upgrade
its infrastructural facilities to meet up with the 21st century challenges.

The Centre is aware of the existence of an alumni platform where interactions take place. However,
it is our thought in the Centre to celebrate our alumni body by launching it formally for the attention
of the University and the world at large.

In preparation for this, as you have been informed, some prominent and promising Nigerians and
other nations who have contributed in no small measures to peace and conflict resolution in all its
ramifications, locally, nationally and internationally would be honoured with awards. Some
personalities have been identified and nominated across divides, and we have started receiving
messages of acceptance.

Since the occasion is yours as it is christened CPSS ALUMNI DAY, you are to take up the
planning as we join you as Secretariat and umpire to see you elect/ select your Executive Council
which shall be sworn in on that day.
Kindly let us discuss these issues exhaustively before other posting;

1. When to hold the Award Programme, bearing in mind that Muslim fasting is First week of
March to April;

2. How do we go about election/selection of National Executive Council members.

Thanks for your cooperation

Yours faithfully,

Prof. Jawondo Ibrahim AbdulGaniyu, FSPSP FYCEN

Director, Centre for Peace and Strategic Studies, University of Ilorin.
