Animals are used in a variety of different ways to provide human entertainment in various countries

around the world. The use of animals in entertainment creates serious issues both in terms of the
welfare of the individual animal as well as species conservation in some cases. The most extreme forms
of ‘entertainment’ cause immense suffering and many animal deaths.

Pakistanis are often amused by the sight of dancing animals. Little do they understand, wild creatures
are not entertainers or artists so performing stunts isn't something that comes to them naturally. Scores
of families are as of yet dependent on these powerless creatures to win their bread and butter. Wild
creatures, for example, monkeys and bears are poached from the wild before they are prepared to
dance. These creatures spent their whole lives in bondage and it's the dread of torment and discipline
that drives these creatures to gain proficiency with the dance moves that their lords teach them while
they are just a couple of months old. Wild animals are also put in captivity in zoos in Pakistan to provide
entertainment for kids and adults. Wild animals are supposed to live in their natural habitats. In
captivity, animals are unable to fully exhibit natural tendencies like foraging, socializing, or swimming.
Many animals suffer physically and psychologically when confined. they are not only put in cage for
human entertainment but animals also suffer due to negligence and corruption of zoo officials. Animals
are starved and are normally not provided with basic necessities. Wild animals in zoos around Pakistan
are often seen in a miserable condition.

Just like in Pakistan animals are also used for human entertainment in Spain, but in even worse ways.
Bull fighting is a very popular sport in Spain. Every year at least 7000 bulls are killed during such fights in
Spain. Animals suffer extreme pain during bull fighting purely for the purpose of human entertainment.
Bulls are injured in ‘preparation’ for the fight and the pica and banderillas (hand-held harpoons
decorated with brightly colored weighted banners) in the ring are used to enrage the bull in order to
give a better ‘spectacle’ and to maintain levels of aggression to prolong the bullfight. During the kill, the
use of the long sword to penetrate the heart is not completely reliable due to which bulls die in
tremendous pain.

Indonesia is another country where animals are mistreated just for the sake of human entertainment.
Bali which is an island in Indonesia is a very popular tourist destination. Bali has multiple resorts that use
animals for human entertainment. Elephant rides, swimming with dolphins, selfies with orangutans and
tiger shows are some of the very popular tourist activities in bali. In order to make elephants submit to
elephant rides and other human interactions, they are taken from their mothers when they are just
babies and forced through a horrific training process known as ‘the crush’. It involves extreme physical
restraints, inflicting severe pain and withholding food and water. Much like elephants, orangutans are
prodded and poked into position, and roughly chastised when they don’t behave as expected, all so
tourists can take home a photo of their experience. After their long shift, the orangutans were returned
to their bleak concrete and metal cage for the night, before their work starts again in the morning.
These are just a few examples of how cruelly animals are treated Indonesia for the sake of human
entertainment.
