AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSLON Exploded View AULOMATIC TRANSMISS£0N DRIVING As the automatic transmission is pressure jubricated, lubrication only occurs when the engine is running. Therefore, it is essential to follow the instructions below otherwise Luere is a risk of serious damage: - Never travel with the ignition switched off {when going down a hill for example); the danger of such action cannot be stressed too grestly: = never have the vehicle pushed (for example to reach the next service station}, unless the precautions listed in the "Towing" chapter are taken. In addition, the vehicle is only driven if the engine is running. It is therefore impossible to slarL the engine on a vehicle with automatic transmission by pushing the vehicle. TOWING In all cireumstances, it is preferable to have the vehicle Lowed on a platform or wilh tae front wheels raised. However, if this is impossible, in exceptional cases the vehicle may be towed under the following conditions: 1 + Rear wheels lifted 15 cm off the ground or four wheels on the ground (without adding ail le the mechanism section). 2 — Do not exceed the speed of 25 mph (40 kn/h) or a maximum distance of 15 miles (25 km) when lowing (lever in N}. 23-2 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION Identification For XS78 and XS7T type vehicles 23 AT ENGINE CONVERTOR -DowN FINAL SPEEDO OOMPUTER* Tere DRIVE PLATE RATTG DRIVE DRIVE 71711 (4 57 B) 69/77 17168 AD4002 227 DAA or or 186 102 EN TI9(X 571) 49/50 17/70 * See TAA, for identification using the KR25 test box.
