1. What is an Eternal Law?

- The laws that regulate the nature of an eternal world are referred to as eternal law. It is
the moral law; the natural law. It is the law that God instilled in man at his creation for
his guidance and preservation. An unjust law is one that is not based on eternal law.
2. What is a Positive Law? give examples.
- Positive law refers to human-made laws that mandate a specific action. These are
laws passed by a legislature in the form of statutes, codes, and regulations. In contrast,
"natural law" refers to universal rules that regulate moral activities in society.
- The right to free public education
Human people have the right to be assured access to public, or state-funded,
educational institutions.
- The right to participate in the social security system
As with education, a positive right is for the state to provide all people with social
security and free access to hospital and health care systems.
- The right to be supported by one's parents
Children have the positive right to be supported in decision making by their parents or
agents. It is the responsibility of parents to safeguard their children's safety and well-
being.
- Private property rights
Everyone has the right to private property, or the right to possess property (movable or
immovable, tangible or intangible) without fear of being plundered or expropriated.
- Right to private property protection
If an individual believes that his property is at danger, he has the right to request and
get protection from the appropriate authorities.
3. What is Natural Moral Law?
- The unwritten set of universal moral principles that underpin the ethical and legal
conventions that occasionally control and judge human behavior. Positive law, which
consists of written rules and regulations issued by government, is sometimes contrasted
with natural law. Natural law derives from the Latin word jus naturale. Naturalists are
followers of the natural law theory.
4. How can we reconcile the tension between the two types of laws?
- Because natural law is founded on the divine, individuals may, in a sense, govern
themselves by laws established by the divine. Also, justice is found in enacting rules
that completely satisfy individuals.
Positive law, on the other hand, asserts that people can reason for themselves, even
yet society cannot function in an orderly manner without a documented set of rules and
a governing authority to enforce them.
