About This Manual
‘The Inteligent Terminal System (ITS) i a peronal computer
‘based IBM? compatible software package designed to ai the
configuring, twoubleshooting and maintenance of both AC and
DC Allen-Bradley Digital Drives. ITS is capable of both
‘off-line and on-line programming, which simplifies stt-up,
expands configuration of options and also assists in both
collecting drive data and monitoring fault informaton
‘This Quick Refereace Manual is designed to help you begin
using the basic ITS functions. This manual will help you load,
start-up and rn the ITS program without going into deep detail
‘on all TTS functions. Ifyou require detailed information on al
TTS functions we sugges you explore the ITS Programming &
Operation Mana
‘To sucessfully use the ITS program, you must have basic
personal computer knowledge and beable to navigate inthe
OS® command structure. A complete working knowledge of
‘your particular model Allen-Bradley Drive is also prerequisite
to deriving the full benefits fom your ITS package

Getting Started
‘Operating Environment ~ITS will un sucessfully in the
following environmen:
‘+ 17S will run on DOS based operating systems, DOS version
2.0 later.
+ ITS will sucessfully run within some windowing
environments and networks including 3Com
Contact Allen-Bradley fo specific questions on operating
NOTE: A minimum of 400K bytes of RAM must be available to
succesfully run ITS.
Hardware Requirements — The ITS software package requires
the following Hardware to succesfully run the program:
+ IBMPC®,XT°, AT® or 100% compatible machine, ITS will
alo work on most 80386 and 486 based machines. Ifa
rogram does not work, contact Allen-Bradley concerning
‘equipment compat
1+ CGA\EGA or VGA video adapter card
‘+ Color or monochrome display compatible withthe video
sdaptr card used
+ ITS must be installed on a hard disk ive witha minimum
of 2meg available diskspace.
+The Signal Converter supplied withthe ITS package must be

User Qualifications — The Ineligent Terminal System is
intended for use by qualified service personne who are skilled in
‘programming Allen-Bradley Digital Drives and who possess
basic personal computer operation skills and knowledge.
ATTENTION: Only Personne! familie withthe
Bulletin 1395 and Bulletin 1336 Drives and the
associated machinery the drive(s) contol should plan
‘or implement the installation, start-up and subsequent
‘maintenance ofthe Drive. Failure to comply may
result in personal injury andor equipment damage.
‘This section i intended to supplement the on-screen instructions
provided during the installation of TTS. tis recommended that
You erate a backup copy of you TTS disks before beginning
installation,
IMPORTANT: 11 MUST be nsaed using the INSTALL
program provided With ITS, This program creates a user
Information file that is required fr ITS to operate. DO NOT use
the DOS copy function or ater copying method to install TS.
To Install ITS on another disk drive
1 Insert ITS Program Disk # into a floppy drive. (We will se
rive A: for his example. Ifyou ae using a Drive ater than

2. tthe DOS prompt, type A: and press ENTer.
‘The DOS prompt should now be A:\> to indicte thatthe
current drive is the A: Dive.
3. Type INSTALL and press ENTer.
Atthis point the INSTALL program main menu will appear. Tis
menu contains the choices evailable fr installing ITS.4. Select program installation by pressing I
‘The INSTALL program will sk you where you want ITS tobe
installed and will suggest a possible locaton
5. Press ENTer to select the suggested path or enter anew
iectory path and then press ENTer.
“The next series of questions help the INSTALL program setup
TTS comecly. Once this information has been entered, a
summary screen will be displayed with the option of proceeding
‘with installation or going back and making corrections.
6, Assuming the information displayed is comect press ¥ to

‘You must enter ADMIN to gun intial access to TTS. The
password associated with ADMIN upon inital distribution of
TTS is PASSaseword Entry ~ Accesso ITS features is controlled to
prevent unauthorized modifications to Drive parameters and
fetup information, The Password Menu is avilable under the
PASSWORD option inthe Main Menu (Figure 2-8). Each user
Of TTS is assigned a username, confidential password, and

person or persons wo are appointed as ITS administrators. A

1. No Access ~ Persons who have not been assigned

Escape Key: In most cases, pressing the ESCape key will exit
the Vertical or Horizontal function level you ae currently at, and

Exiting DOS Shell: When using the DOS Shel opsion under

Setup\Exit ITS: The Setup menu offers an option that allows
you to ext ITS tothe DOS operating system. To exit the DOS

Initiating Printing To print ITS files, it is necessary to access
the PRINT DRIVE DATA option under the Drive Data\EditFile
‘menu, The PRINT DRIVE DATA option Fig. 3-5) allows you
to send data toa printer attached to your PC, oo an ASCII fie
Upon entry tothe PRINT DRIVE DATA function, the Pinter
‘willbe specified asthe ourpa device. The port used forthe
‘printer is determined by the port seting you entered previously
in the Printer function under the SetUp choice ofthe Main ITS

‘The data shown under Set in the prot dialog box allows you
to change the datapath andthe format ofthe output. The cusor
assppears 8s a flashing underine which may be moved from
function to function using the TAB key.
To change the SetUp data:
“Move the cursor othe desired option, and press the SPACE
‘BAR. An "X" will appear on the enabled function. The functions
sre listed below:
+ Printer ile Send an ouput to either the printer port or
ara file
+ Immediate’Buffered - These only apply when sending
‘output tothe printer. IMMEDIATE will cause ITS to be
erupted fo as long asi takes to output all data to the
specified peinter port. BUFFERED causes the data tobe sent
to a temporary print file which is then loaded into the
print queue
‘+ Paged/Continuous ~The Paged output wll cause a header
and footer to appear foreach 66 line page of output
‘CONTINUOUS puts a header tthe beginning and then
‘prints the entre data ins continvous format ignoring page
breaks
‘+ Parm/ConffBoth - Allows you to select between the
parameter, configuration, or both data types for printing
‘When printing toa ile, the sreen wll appear as in
Figure 36.

Canceling Printing ~ Once printing has begun, the print
fanction can be canceled by pressing ENTer. If canceled,
“Pritout Canceled” wil appear a the bottom of the printout at
the point where the cancel request was made
