INSTRUMENT COULTER SA3100 (0246)


SUBJECT COMPUTER START UP PROCEDURE. (THIS PROCEDURE IS
VALID FOR ALL VERSIONS OF 1.XX SOFTWARE).
EFFECTIVE DATE NOVEMBER 28, 1995
INFORMATION THIS PROCEDURE SETS THE BIOS PARAMETERS ON THE
CPU CARD TO PROPERLY REFLECT THE CONFIGURATION
NEEDED TO OPERATE THE SA3100

NOTE:
To select or change options during this procedure use the up/down arrows to highlight the option to be set
and the left/right arrows to modify your selection.

PROCEDURE: 1. Connect keyboard. (Note: keyboard connector is located


next to reference port).

2. Power up the SA3100 and when ACoulter Corporation@

appears on the screen, press the [ESCAPE] key on the keyboard. This
will enter you into the system BIOS set-up screen.

3. Enter the correct date and time.

4. Set the following:

Diskette A...................... 3 2 inch, 1.44MB


Diskette B...................... Not Installed
Hard Disk 1................... Not Installed
Hard Disk 2................... Not Installed

Video Adapter............... VGA/EGA


Keyboard....................... Not Installed
Diskette Verify...............Disabled
Bus Speed (MHZ)..........8.25
Dma Speed (MHZ)........4.12
Cache............................. Enabled
Press [ENTER]

5. Press [F6] to enter boot options and ensure the following are set:

Boot sequence [Drive C, then drive A]


Keyboard Numlock [OFF]
Fast Boot [DISABLED]
Press [ENTER] to save your changes.

6. Press [F3] for advanced CPU setup.

The following menu will be displayed:

F2 Shadow options ROMS


F3 Serial/parallel port assignments
F4 Wait state selection
F6 Floppy controller and IDE interface
F7 Customize hard drive table entry
F8 Memory relocations
F9 Non-Cacheable address definitions.

7. Press [F2] ensure the following is selected:

Shadow RAM for options ROM-Bias

Video D0000 E8000


C4000 D4000
C8000 D8000
CC000 DC000

Ensure AVIDEO and C4000" are shadowed.


Press [ENTER].

8. Press [F3] ensure the following is selected:

Serial/parallel port configurations

UART Number 1: 03F8 IRQ4


UART Number 2. 02F8 IRQ3
Parallel Port 0378 IRQ5 Compatable
Press [ENTER].

9. Press [F4] ensure the following is selected:

Memory / DMA wait state selection

82C206 Read/Write cycle.... 2 wait states


16 bit DMA........................ 2 wait states
8 bit DMA........................ 2 wait states
DRAM write wait state....... 0 wait states
DRAM read wait state........ 2 wait states
Press [ENTER].

10. Press [F6] ensure the following is selected:

Disk controller configuration


Floppy controller Enabled
IDE Interface Disabled
Press [ENTER].

11. Press [F8] ensure the following is selected:

Memory Remapping [ENABLE].

Press [ENTER] to save changes.


Press [ENTER] again to exit Advanced CPU setup.

12. Power off instrument. Remove the keyboard.
