APPENDIX K DETAILED BAKER ATLAS GUN RUNNING PROCEDURE

Page 52
SAFETY AND OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES

SAFETY: GENERAL

Safety considerations in order of priority are:

 Safety of the individuals involved.

 Safety of the well.
 Safety of the equipment being used.

Safety of the individuals is the over-riding consideration particularly when the guns and firing heads are
being handled at surface. Once the string is run beneath the rotary, well safety becomes paramount.
Precautions must be taken to avoid perforating off depth, or at the wrong moment (overbalance not set,
etc).

Safety: Awareness

The Baker Atlas Engineer is thoroughly conversant both with his equipment and the planned perforation
operation. He is able to advise the Client regarding the consequences of all actions, particularly those
involving safety. The Baker Atlas Engineer must always be on guard against possible safety violation.
Careful monitoring of all operations is essential while the gun string is in the hole. Pressuring either
tubing or annulus could cause inadvertent firing of an absolute pressure firing head. Only with the
retrievable firing system are the guns totally safe from accidental detonation as no firing head is in place
until all pressure testing is complete.

In all other cases only careful and continuous monitoring of rig operations can adequate safety be
maintained.

Safety: Hardware, General

Overall Operation:

The Engineer or TCP Specialist must at all times supervise the handling of the explosives and may not
leave the rig floor until the gun string and other pressure operated tools are 100 feet below ground level
or the sea bed.

The Engineer or TCP Specialist must always supervise any operation where TCP guns are returned to
surface.

A Baker Atlas employee must stay on location while the guns are run in the hole and critically observe
the rig activities while the well is being installed and tested.

Safety: Gun System

Baker Atlas TCP guns have being designed to contain only secondary explosives incapable of being set
off under normal handling and transportation procedures. Because the firing head containing the
primary explosive (detonator) will be connected to the safety spacer, the string can be armed on the rig
floor placing the shaped charges out of line of fire and a safe distance away from personnel.

All non-essential personnel must stay clear of the gun area, catwalk, well heads and drill floor until the
guns are 100 feet below ground level or below sea level.

TCP guns are heavy. They should only be moved by crane, forklift or air hoist. The proper handling
caps or pick-up subs must always be used when the guns are moved.

The rig crew are requested to assist in the assembling of the guns under Baker Atlas supervision.
Careful use of slips and safety clamps is required to keep the guns from accidentally dropping into the
well.
Page 53
Gun loading
Perforating guns can be loaded on the rig immediately prior to usage, or loaded at the operating base
before dispatch to the rig. The following rules apply to gun assembly on the rig:

 The Drilling supervisor, Toolpusher, Safety officer, Crane driver and Deck foreman should be
informed about the area where explosives are stored and handled.

 No welding or smoking is allowed in the area where explosives are being stored and handled. Also,
no heavy overhead lifts are allowed in that area.

 All spare and scrap explosives should be stored in approved explosive stores. No explosives should
be left in the area after gun loading is finished

Safety summary

 No primary explosives are used in Baker Atlas TCP guns and intercarriers.

 A safety spacer is run at the top of every gun string for placement of the charges below the rotary table.
This allows for safe arming and disarming of loaded TCP guns.

TOOL AND HYDRAULIC TIME DELAY FIRING HEAD

WARNING: Never transport or store the Hydraulic Firing Head with Explosives attached.

Page 56
5.1 Prior to running in the hole, meet with Operators Representative, subsurface Supervisor and Slickline
Operator to explain in detail our Running and Safety procedures. The Firing Head Calculation sheet is
to be signed off by Operator Representative. This will avoid any misunderstanding and ensure a smooth
and successful operation.

5.2 Pick up Sinker Bars, etc measure and record all tool lengths, O.D’s and fishing dimensions.

5.3 Ensure that all connections are wrench tight on the Slickline toolstring. Ensure there is a working
pressure gauge on the Lubricator.

NOTE: The use of jars are not recommended to be run with this tool when running a Hydraulic
Firing Head.

5.4 Pick up the Lubricator with the Toolstring (Firing Head not attached) and pressure test
to Operators requirements.

5.5 Atlas Specialist at this time will load the explosive components into the Firing Head. Insert the Firing
Head into the Setting Tool.

5.6 Break out the lubricator and attach Setting Tool complete with Firing Head to slickline BHA. Pull tools into
lubricator and make up the Lubricator.

5.7 Pressure test Lubricator to ___ psi.

Note: This pressure test is not to exceed half the value of the Firing Head tensile bar
shear rating.

5.8 Open well to run in hole.

5.9 Run in hole at 200-250 feet/minute in open pipe. No more than 25 ft/min through
any restrictions.

WARNING:
Should toolstring become stuck, do not pull over 850lbs. Sustained for more than 30
seconds. Should this occur, slack off to neutral weight for a minimum of 4 minutes to
reset Setting Tool.

5.10 At approximately 200 feet from entering the downhole Toolstring, stop and take the static weight, pick
up the weight and running weight.

5.11 Enter the downhole Toolstring at 25 feet/minute. Go slowly and watch for any depth reference above
the Glass Disc, e.g. Crossover etc.

5.12 Approximately 150 feet from the glass disc sub, stop and take weights again. Run in hole very slowly
until string sets on Glass Disc. Pick up 20 feet and continue to run in hole 400 feet/minute. Once
through Glass Disc, slow down to 25 feet/minute and set down on stem top. Pull up watching your
weight indicator.

5.13 If latched, continue to pull over the tool weight to 600lbs and maintain this tension. Tool will release in
approximately 1 minute and 30 seconds. Then weight indicator should return to neutral weight.

WARNING: Tension loads of greater or less than 600lbs will result in a variance in release time.

5.14 When the Setting Tool has released, pull out of the hole slowly through the bottom hole assembly. Pull
out of the hole at a maximum 400 feet/minute in open pipe. 25 feet/minute through restrictions.

5.15 After tool has stroked and released Firing Head, the No-Go slips are extended preventing re-entry
through No-Go Assembly.

5.16 At surface, pull toolstring into the Lubricator, shut in the well, bleed off any pressure,
Break out the Lubricator. Lower the tools out of the bottom and inspect the Setting tool to ensure
the tool has functioned properly.

6.3 Pressure up tubing to psi, to initiate the hydraulic time delay.

6.4 Bleed back surface pressure to psi.

6.5 Monitor well pressure gauges and completion vibrations for signs of detonation.

6.6 Guns will disconnect on detonation.

Note: In the unlikely event that there is no indication of the guns firing continue as per Baker
Atlas misfire procedure.

PROCEDURES FOLLOWING A MISFIRE

THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE SHOULD BE USED ONLY AS A GUIDE

RETRIEVABLE HYDRAULIC FIRING HEAD

The Hydraulic Firing Head (Tubing Pressure) is run with a time delay to allow pre determined down hole
pressure conditions to be re-established after increasing pressure to initiate the time delay.

1. Twice the duration of the time delay should be allowed if no indication of guns firing, before repeating.

2. If guns will not fire at the predetermined pressure, increase the pressure and re-apply (increments of
500 or 1000 psi) allow twice the time delay before repeating.

3. Monitor well pressure gauges and pipe vibrations for signs of detonation.

4. If no indication of guns firing, retrieve firing head and inspect.

5. If firing head has not been fired, run another firing head in on slickline and repeat firing procedure.

6. If the firing head has fired, run a lead impression block & tag the firing stem cap to confirm if the cap has
been punctured ballistically.

7. If the firing stem cap has been punctured ballistic ally, the guns are wet and can know longer be
detonated. (see note)

Note:
