Drug War Killings

The Debatable Topic I have chosen is the drug war killings in the philippines, should we kill
them? Or is there a better way to stop drug use in the philippines?

This topic came to my mind when I saw a foreign influencer who said “You know the
philippines? Their president said to kill all the people who were using drugs, and EVERYONE
agreed with him” which got me thinking, is there a better way?

Alternatives:
The First alternative I thought of was Rehabilitation, where the drug addicts are helped to
cope with their addictions, another alternative are The Components of Anti Drug Strategy
Drug Supply Reduction
Take away drugs from the public through market denial operations and prevention of
diversion from the licit to illicit market; and reduce the proliferation of illegal drugs
through sustainable alternative development programs.
Law Enforcement
In order to fully support the government’s anti-drug campaign, the Philippine National Police
launched its PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Campaign Plan: Double Barrel. Implemented in a two-
pronged approach, this is the centerpiece of PNP’s campaign against illegal drugs. The lower
barrel is dubbed as Project Tokhang (ToktokHangyo), a Visayan composite term that stands
for knock (Toktok) and plead (Hangyo). The upper barrel, which is the Project HVT (High
Value Target), is a sustained anti-illegal drugs police operation that includes buy-busts,
service of search and arrests warrants, manhunts, raids, and checkpoints against High Value
and Street Level Targets involved in trafficking and selling of illicit drugs.

My Opinion:
In my opinion Rehabilitation is the way to go. We can help them overcome their addictions
and to encourage others to follow suit, though it won’t be effective for others. I know, so I
think we should also implement aspects of other alternatives like Law Enforcement and Drug
Supply Reduction.
Conclusion:
Instead of killing drug addicts immediately we should try to help them overcome their
addiction, we should try to prevent them from getting addicted in the first place,
though it seems difficult we should try to help them in any way we can.
